Long-term albumin treatment in patients with cirrhosis and ascites

Caraceni et al. summarize the benefits and risks of long-term albumin therapy in cirrhosis and ascites as an emerging tool for the improvement of clinical and patient reported outcomes. They highlight the need for tools to refine patient selection and stopping rules as well as cost-effectiveness studies.
