Example of different scanning patterns: a) probe movement in a radial (left panel) and anti-radial fashion (right panel); and b) demonstrates a more traverse and longitudinal scanning pattern moving in two orthogonal planes.

The location of breast findings on ultrasound are described by both orientation on a clock face and distance from the ni**le. Each breast is described as an individual clock, with 12 o’clock at the superior breast and 6 o’clock at the inferior breast (example shown below). Of note, the clock face numbers differ between the right and left breasts due to the mirroring lateral and medial aspects (e.g. 3 o’clock is lateral in the left breast and medial in the right breast).

The breast consists of a mixture of fibroglandular and fatty tissue.
The glandular tissue is not evenly spread in the breast.
Usually it is more pronounced in the upper lateral quadrant and it radiates from behind the ni**le to more peripheral
The amount of glandular tissue responds to hormonal fluctuation and shows changes during the menstrual cycle.
The amount of glandular tissue decreases with age.
Focal collections of glandular tissue may present as a lump, because glandular tissue is more firm than the surrounding fatty tissue.
In young women this is a very common cause of a often painful lump in the breast.

1-Pooping duck sign

Pooping Duck sign is observed in lateral wrist radiographs indicating a Triquetral fracture, where an avulsed fracture fragment from the dorsal cortex of the triquetrum is visible projecting along the dorsal aspect of the wrist’s osseous structures, forming a duck-shaped shadow.

2-The speech bubble (or talk bubble) sign is one ascribed to the appearances of a Baker's cyst.

This is related to the neck of the cyst arising from the synovial space into the larger dilated cystic component

Hangman’s fracture

Description: fractures through the pars interaticularis of the axis resulting from hyperextension and distraction.

Mechanism: hyperextension (e.g. hanging, chin hits dashboard in MVA).

Radiographic features: (best seen on lateral view)

1. Prevertebral soft tissue swelling.
2. Avulsion of anterior inferior corner of C2 associated with rupture of the anterior longitudinal ligament.
3. Anterior dislocation of the C2 vertebral body.
4. Bilateral C2 pars interarticularis fractures.

Stability: unstable

Jumper knee or sinding Larsen disease

MRI will show partial tearing or inflammation at the proximal of the patellar tendon origin and often edema in the adjacent anterior knee fat pad (i.e. Hoffa's fat pad)

So
Osgood Schlatter at distal end of patellar tendon
Sinding larsen at proximal end of patellar tendon

Both are due to trauma

Osgood-Schlatter disease.

Fragmented apophysis at tibial tuberosity. Overlying soft tissue swelling is noted. Soft tissue haziness is noted in inferior most part of fat pad; obliterating shadow of inferior most part of patellar ligament.
