Graph neural network in repurposing of natural product
Highlight:
Drug repositioning has been a promising alternative drug discovery approach for decades. Graph neural network (GNN) is a deep learning tool. It is a standard DL model-self learning directly from data. GNN is very useful in determination of protein structure (PS) which is very essential in drug discovery either through drug repurposing or de novo drug design approaches. The main features used as inputs for these approaches are structure-based features as well as network topology-based features. Halicin is a natural product and reported as JAKS inhibitors.
Achievements:
Yaseen A. M. M. Elshaier is a professor in pharmaceutical chemisty and vive dean for research and postgraduate studies, faculty of pharmacy, university of Sadat City, Menufia, Egypt. He got his bachelor degree (2000) from faculty of Pharmacy, Al-Azhar University, Egypt, and master degree (2007) from faculty of pharmacy, Cairo University Egypt. On 2011, he got his PhD from Kanazawa University, Japan. On 2015, he travelled to USA for a postdoc scholarship at South Dakota State University, SD, USA. Dr Elshaier has Scopus H index 24 with 1430 citation and two international patents. Furthermore, he is working in utilizing artificial intelligence applications in drug development and drug discovery.
