From inside hospitals and healthcare systems, neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) are not just clinical cases.
They are often under-documented, under-coded, and under-represented in health data.
Diseases such as leprosy, schistosomiasis, lymphatic filariasis, are all classified as NTDs by the World Health Organization. Most are preventable or fully treatable when detected early.
Yet operational gaps frequently delay impact.
In Egypt, major progress has been made at the public-health level. The next challenge lies in system integration:
🧾 Accurate clinical coding prevents cases from being lost under generic diagnoses
🔗 Integrated digital systems turn individual cases into actionable population insights
📈 Reliable reporting supports better planning, funding, and targeted interventions
Neglected diseases remain neglected when they are invisible in the system.
Digital health, coding accuracy, and RCM discipline are how healthcare organizations make them visible to data, to decision-makers, and ultimately, to better care.
