How to Write a Strong Abstract and Keywords for Your Manuscript

1️⃣ Writing the Abstract (Think: IMRaD in Miniature)

A good abstract is clear, concise, and complete. Most journals expect 150–250 words.

A. Background (1–2 sentences)
• What is already known?
• Why is this study needed?

✍️ Example:
“Childhood obesity is associated with multiple cardiometabolic complications. Evidence regarding the role of lactoferrin in improving metabolic parameters remains limited.”

B. Objective / Aim (1 sentence)
• What exactly did you study?
. This is usually included in Background section

✍️ Example:
“This study aimed to evaluate the effect of lactoferrin supplementation in obese children.”

C. Methods (2–3 sentences)
• Study design
• Population
• Intervention and comparison
• Main outcome measures

✍️ Example:
“In this randomized controlled trial, obese children were assigned to receive lactoferrin or placebo for 12 weeks. Anthropometric and metabolic parameters were assessed before and after treatment.”

D. Results (2–3 sentences)
• Report key numerical results
• Mention statistical significance

✍️ Example:
“The lactoferrin group showed a significant reduction in BMI z-score and triglyceride levels compared with placebo (p < 0.05). No serious adverse effects were observed.”

E. Conclusion (1–2 sentences)
• What do the results mean?
• Clinical or scientific relevance

✍️ Example:
“Lactoferrin supplementation may represent a safe and effective adjunct in the management of childhood obesity.”

2️⃣ Choosing the Right Keywords (Small but Powerful)

Most journals require 3–6 keywords.

✅ How to Choose Keywords Correctly:
• Use MeSH terms when possible
• Avoid repeating words already in the title
• Think: What would a researcher type into PubMed to find my paper?

❌ Avoid:
• Very general terms (e.g., study, children)
• Abbreviations (unless universally accepted)

✔️ Good Keyword Examples:
• Childhood obesity
• Lactoferrin
• Randomized controlled trial
• Body mass index
• Metabolic syndrome

3️⃣ Quick Checklist Before Submission ✔️
• ⬜ Within word limit
• ⬜ No references or abbreviations
• ⬜ Results include numbers
• ⬜ Conclusion matches results
• ⬜ Keywords are searchable and specific

How to choose good attractive comprehensive title 💥💥

1️⃣ Be Clear before Clever
• The reader should understand the topic instantly
• Avoid vague or poetic phrases
❌ “New Insights into Pediatric Diseases”
✅ “Serum Ferritin as a Predictor of Disease Severity in Pediatric Sepsis”

2️⃣ Include the Core Elements

A good title usually contains 2–3 of the following:
• Main variable (exposure/intervention)
• Outcome
• Population
• Study design (optional but powerful)

Example:
👉 Vitamin D Deficiency and Risk of Asthma Exacerbations in School-Aged Children: A Case–Control Study

3️⃣ Use Specific, Searchable Keywords
• Think like PubMed, not like poetry
• Use terms commonly searched in your field
• Avoid unnecessary abbreviations

4️⃣ Keep It Concise (but Complete)

Ideal length: 10–15 words
• Too short → unclear
• Too long → exhausting

💡 If needed, use a subtitle:

Early Cardiac Involvement in MIS-C: A Prospective Echocardiographic Study

5️⃣ Match the Title to the Study Type
• Observational: association, prevalence, predictors
• Interventional: effect, efficacy, impact
• Diagnostic: accuracy, validity, performance

6️⃣ Avoid Common Mistakes ❌
• “A study of…”
• “Our experience with…”
• “Novel”, “Unique”, “First-ever” (editors dislike hype)
• Claims not supported by results

7️⃣ Quick Title Checklist ✔️

Before submission, ask:
• Is it accurate?
• Is it specific?
• Is it search-friendly?
• Does it reflect the main finding?

💔💔Manuscript rejection part 2💔💔

Manuscript rejected? Don’t panic.
Most rejections happen due to:
❌ Journal mismatch
❌ Weak methodology
❌ Statistical errors
❌ Poor writing
❌ Ignoring author guidelines

✅ The good news? All of these are fixable.

Rejection is not the end — it’s a step toward a stronger paper.

First: you have to identify the cause
Second: you have to change it
Third: resubmit to another journal

And Good Luck 👍

💔💔Manuscript Rejection 💔💔

This is a common disappointing decision taken by the journal.

Manuscript rejection is not a failure — it’s often a signal that something fixable was missed.

First, you have to identify what is wrong. Second, you have to fix it then resubmit to another journal.

Here are the most common reasons manuscripts are rejected and how to solve them:
