There is a muscle on the side of your ribs called the serratus anterior. If it’s weak or tight, your shoulder blade can’t move the way it should. Due to this, when you lift your arm, your shoulder often hikes up, and the neck and shoulder muscles work too hard. Over time, this can cause pain or even pinching in the shoulder.
