But here’s the truth 💭
The time comes… before you expect it.

Girls can start their period as early as 9.
And if they’re not prepared, it can feel confusing, embarrassing… even scary.

But when they understand it beforehand?
It becomes something completely normal 🤍

✨ It’s not the period that scares them, it’s the surprise.

This is why I believe these conversations matter early
and why I created Hello Iyla 💕

I think one of the biggest worries mums have is…

“How do I actually explain periods to my daughter without making it awkward?”

The truth is, it doesn’t need to be complicated.

You can keep it really simple:

As girls grow, their body prepares for adulthood.
Once a month, the body builds a lining… and if it’s not needed, it leaves as blood.

That’s what a period is.

No big words. No pressure. No fear.

What matters most is how we show up in that conversation.
If we’re calm, they feel calm too 🤍

I created Hello Iyla to make these moments easier, more natural, and something girls feel confident about not scared of.

Something that has been on my mind recently…

When I was younger and diagnosed with endometriosis, the solution offered to me was the contraceptive pill to manage symptoms.

For many women that is absolutely the right option.

But something that was missing for many of us growing up was education about our bodies.

I recently heard a specialist ask a powerful question on a podcast:

“Do you even know who you are without the pill?”

Many women spend 10–20 years on hormonal contraception and only later begin learning about their natural cycles.

It made me realise how little we were actually taught as young girls about our hormones, our cycles and how our bodies work.

And that’s one of the reasons I’m building Hello Iyla.

Because the next generation of girls deserve more understanding about their bodies than we had.

Education matters.

Today I’m sharing something very close to my heart 💛

I’ve been quietly building something called Hello Iyla.

It started with one simple thought:

Why do so many girls experience their first period feeling confused, embarrassed or unprepared?

Research shows girls are starting their periods earlier than previous generations. Yet many families still feel unsure about how to prepare for that moment.

As a mum, that really stayed with me.

A first period isn’t just biological.
It’s emotional.
It’s a confidence-shaping moment.

So I’m creating a gentle first-period starter box for girls aged 9–14 designed not just with products, but with education, reassurance and support for both girls and parents.

Because growing up doesn’t have to feel overwhelming.

We’re currently in pre-launch.
