HAPPY 2019 YOGIS!
How are you feeling ?. I'm excited!. I love the starting of the year because it's like a blank slate. Like we have a fresh new opportunity to start from scratch, to change the things we want to change and do make room to do more of the things we like to do.
This year starts with a New moon an eclipse and a meteorite shower. What a celestial fest!. All of this astrological wonders indicate that The Universe wants us to really feel like we start from the beginning (new moon). The astrological climate, tells us we have many shooting stars (meteorite showers) to wish upon. We need to realize that, even though our light might not have been shining brightly enough for everyone to see, soon our path would be unblocked (eclipse) and our view will be once again shining brightly (...can't say that without singing "like a diamond!! " loud in my head. Thanks Sia and Rihanna for that).
Check your inbox if you are one of our beloved yogis. You will have an email waiting for you: lots of love and all the light for 2019 beautiful ones.
Trinidad.

Excited about tomorrow? September retreats are here! Yas!

We have been telling you about our new team members. Now it’s time to meet your SEPTEMBER 2-8 Yoga teacher!

This ray of Sunshine is our Yoga teacher Marta Brzeska 🧘🏼‍♀️

Marta and I first met when she was an assisting teacher to one of the best Yoga Teacher's I know and certainly one of the best in the world . I was attending a workshop and this amazing woman was assisting the "guru" and I wondered then "how does a person become such a good yogi, that the best of the best will trust their students to her?". I was one of those students, many years ago, and Marta was assisting and helping our guruji.

I am still in awe of Marta and feel so blessed she has finally agreed to leave her extremely busy schedule to fit this retreat in and fly across Europe to be with us.

This is how Marta describes what Yoga is to her and her classes during the retreat:

“I see yoga as a practice of embodied living, as a journey of self-discovery and coming home within.

During the classes I like to invite my students to go beyond the form and awaken our basic intinct to feel, to enhance our sensory awareness, and to look at ourselves with an innocent and explorative mind.

The postures are accompanied by conscious breathing, facilating our inherent capacity to release tensions and to revitalize the whole system.

Yoga is a balance between stillness and motion, structure and free flow, observation and intentionality.

Morning classes will be focused on awakening the body and strenghtening our foundation, while evening sessions will offer a peaceful and restorative practice with elements of partner yoga and Thai massage “

How nice dos that sound? ✨

- YTT 200 hrs: hatha and sivananda yoga (Rishikesh, India)

- Mindfulness and Somatic YTT 200 hrs (Ibiza)

- Principle-Based Partner Yoga TT 80 hrs (Santa Barbara, California)

- Thai Yoga in-depth training 200 hrs, including Hatha Vinyasa Yoga and Vipassana meditation (Laos) combined with elements of thai massage.

We are coming strong this September! Check out our resident therapist for this month! Her name is Luisa and as well as an amazing woman and biologist... she’s so much more! . We asked Luisa to tell us a bit about herself and this is what she told us:

“Luxuryoga: How would you describe who you are and what you do Luisa?

Luisa: I’m Biologist (human embryologist for 12 years), Shiatsupractor , yoga teacher, Fertility Massage therapist, energy healer, Feminine Embodiment coach and conscious cooking teacher.

But above all labels, I consider myself as an embodied woman, yogini, Mother Earth’s lover, passionate foodie and holistic therapist, as well as a feminine energy alchemist.

My goal is guiding women and men throughout their own healing power, balancing their feminine/masculine polarity, re-connecting and listening to their body’s wisdom, nourishing and feeling again the aliveness and the blissful state that is just hidden behind layers of frozen tension.

As my purpose and work of life, I am the founder and creator of PURALQUIMIA. Where all these passions and offerings to the world are held. And, where you can find me wherever you are: www.puralquimia.com

From my heart to your heart….

September is almost here and we couldn’t be happier! Lots of new amazing things to look forward to.

We have a new amazing teacher for the retreat running from 9-15th of September.

Her name is Sinead and this is what she told us when we asked her about herself as an award winning, Yoga teacher:

Sinéad:

“A lil bit about me?....

My nickname is Smooney or Moons which comes from my maiden name Mooney – hence my yogi brand/alter ego !

My professional objective is to truly inspire my students through the practice of Yoga, building a trust and rapport both on/off the mat. To guide my students through an exploration of the body, breath and mind connection – in order to empower themselves against the daily trials and tribulations of life. To make them sweat and laugh! To develop flexibility and strength whilst weaving some yoga history/ philosophy throughout our practices together.

Yoga is so much more than the movement side ‘Asana’ that we mostly see in mainstream media, so I love to open peoples eyes to the many different parts to this ancient practice – albeit making it accessible and relevant to our modern lives!

Primarily I want to help bring a little peace into our crazy world and ultimately... make.people.smile. “

🙌🏼🧘🏻‍♀️🙏🏼✨ how blessed are we?. On top of that amazing ethos, Sinead is extremely well qualified. Check it out!

YES, WE EXIST. We might be good, but too good to be true?.

We started a retreat today.
The funniest thing happened. Our phone finally had enough of being left on the outdoor furniture. It actually ended up in a plant pot for too long ( those of you familiar with our retreat, will know exactly the pot, plant and phone).

Our incoming costumers couldn’t reach us because the phone had finally decided to become the plant it was living like.

I kept emailing everyone to make sure they could stay in touch... I digress.

As is August in Alicante, the usual “ airport taxis “ have multiplied and apparently, they’ve never heard of the retreat.

So during the first dinner, I’m talking to some of the yogis that had arrived today and they said the following ( two of them, unison):
Trini, we had a bit of a panic, your phone was suddenly not working, when you are always available, then, the taxi driver didn’t know about the retreat existence.... so we both were thinking “ it was too good to be true, this is a scam, this place at this price, as it’s shown, with this person always replying and being so kind... it could not exist, we’ve felt we’ve been conned until we saw you at the door and we walked in the gates, recognizing the beautiful pool and gardens..”.

Let me telling you. I’m really proud of all of us at Luxuryoga. No, we don’t have any bad reviews ( fingers crossed). Yes, we are affordable and well kept and huge and amazing... but although it’s sad our phone has moved on to a better life ( new one tomorrow, still available on same number), it was so incredibly heart warming to see people saying “ it was too good to be true”.. BUT IT IS TRUE.

I aspire to make you all feel as though your dreams can come true, because every time one of you walks through the retreat door, you are making my dreams come true.

🙏🏼 Namaste

So many of you are joining us or the first time, and it's Wonderful.
A lot of people do not know what to expect from a yoga retreat, especially a "luxury" one, because there's just too many "share a tent, we'll give you salad" retreats (look in our web page's "your host tab" to learn more about those and my misadventures in other retreats https://luxuryoga.com/your-host/).

If you are a yoga beginner or have decided to join a retreat for the first time what you probably really want to know is:

What do I have to have to wear?
Do I have to like vegetarian food only?
Will there be internet access?
Will we be allowed to drink?
Or will it be a week of my holiday be spent with hardcore vegans chanting non-stop while holding sage and crystals?

Well, I hope you are pleased to know that we do have some answers:

You do have a lot of free time, but yes, you will be doing yoga twice a day.

Our retreat is not a boarding school or boot camp, and you won't be expected to be moving and chanting from sunlight to sunset.

There are two classes per day, morning and noon, usually in our indoor yoga shala or on our open-air deck. In the evenings, after dinner, we always run an activity to "wrap up the day" and help you relax before bed. These activities vary. Sometimes is a deep guided meditation. Sometimes is mantra chanting, sometimes is watching a Yoga documentary in our in-house cinema.

Between classes, we have what we call 'free time.' That's probably a strange concept to many of us, I know. You will be shocked at how many people just look lost and confused when we tell them "now you can eat, go sunbathe, take a sauna or a walk, it's your free time, do whatever you want."

Please understand "free time" it means a few blissful hours where you decide what's YOUR plan.

We encourage our guest to spend as many days as possible avoiding emails and internet stimuli. We believe the internet it too "fast-paced" and overloaded with everyone else's information.

To be able to better and to your own needs, thoughts and feelings we encourage (don't demand) that you go on an "internet" detox because it speeds up the mental cleansing process that many of you want to come to the retreat for, in the first place.
We understand sometimes being out of office is difficult (believe! I do! ( but if possible setting an email auto-reply saying "I will not be able to respond to emails until next week" is an excellent way of feeling less compelled to be online.

One former yoga teacher of mine once said "Imagine your body is a water hose all tangled up with knots. The retreat is a way to slowly untie those knots and let your energy, like water, flow throughout your whole self again". Being very well rested speeds up this untying process and helps to let go of more tension. Because you are on the go for 14 hours a day, we strongly suggest you use the other 10 to rest, read and journal. Rest is an essential part of the retreat. It's as critical as every yoga class and every meal.

Yogis can have good taste and do not need to go backpacking through the Himalayas with a Guru (is you do, that's cool!) to be able to "retreat."

Your home for the week (Luxuryoga Retreat) is kind of hard to describe because it was set up as "my dream yoga retreat" (after way too much money and time spent struggling in some tent eating salads).
So bear with me, I'm biased, but reviews support me. Our retreat is a huge place, an amazing house with large gardens. I guess it has a boutique hotel feeling. The perfect place to combine an all-inclusive, quality holiday time with learning more about yoga. We believe really comfortable accommodation, amazing food, organic toiletries and super soft sheets and towels are more conducive to a "mind and body" decluttering process. So expect all of that. We also provide you with your own yoga mat, bathrobe, slippers. All rooms have air conditioning and blackout blinds. Rest is crucial to us.

We tend to encourage people to wear whatever they are comfortable with. However, too loose clothes might interfere with your more dynamic yoga practice (remember, we are untying knots. Not getting into more).

'These retreats are designed for people to get their head around the retreat concept, while enjoying excellent quality teaching in an amazing, dedicated piece of paradise, in a convenient, yet amazing location.'

The surroundings are generally part of the magic of a retreat. Our really large, outdoor area is magnificent. Although we are in the heart of a rural community, outside Elche, most people do not feel like ever leaving the retreat. We are close to two UNESCO World Heritage sites, which makes it a brilliant way to explore a new part of the world in style (and top up your tan) while finding yourself.

Luxuryoga Retreat schedule.

A lot of you are asking us about what our daily schedule is like. Here is a guide of how our normal days, on average, work.

A typical day at Luxuryoga Retreats:

8.30 - Wake to freshly made ginger and lemon tea to help cleanse your digestion or what we call "energy shots" usually made out of superfoods like spirulina, curcumin, ginger...

8.50 - A mindful set up of the outdoors yoga deck

9.00 - Dynamic yoga sequence and relaxation

10.30 - Breakfast is served. Usually consists of smoothie bowls, cereals, and fruits

11.00 - 18.00 - Free time to relax, swim, go to the Spa, explore, read, have a beauty treatment, a massage, etc.

14.00 -Lunch is served (if you have chosen to go out for the day. is not mandatory that you are back for lunch). Lunch is served buffet style and it usually has a vegetable cream soup accompanied by salad.

18.00 - Evening yoga practice in our indoor shala (this will be Yin, although we do not warm up the shala, due to natural weather conditions, this class tends to be a warmer, not dynamic practice, which is amazing to help you get the most of the posture and allow your muscles to be "warmer" so we can pe*****te deeper into the actual cartilages, ligaments, and joints). This class is followed by a meditation.

20.00 - Dinner. Table service. Three courses.

21.30 - Evening activity: This varies from Yoga Nidra meditations to watching yoga documentaries in our in-house cinema, to mantra chanting.

22:30 - Rest

As you can see, you have something going on from 8 am to past 10 pm. It's 14 hours. Rest is very important so we encourage to take it seriously and dedicate time to it. Whether you are reading, meditation or writing on your diary thoughts about the day, it's important you understand you need those hours resting to get the most benefits out of the retreat experience.
