Year of the Horse 2026 — A Classical Perspective

In early Chinese mythology, a creature known as the Dragon-Horse (Longma, 龙马) is said to have risen from the Yellow River bearing a sacred diagram on its back. This diagram, the Hetu (River Map), revealed patterns of Heaven and Earth to the legendary Fu Xi and became one of the symbolic foundations of Chinese cosmology and the Yijing.

The Dragon-Horse is not a destroyer, nor a sign of chaos.
It represents Heaven revealing order — the moment when the hidden patterns of reality become visible to those who are aligned enough to perceive them.

In Chinese symbolism:
• The Horse is associated with vitality, movement, and expansive yang energy
• Fire brings brightness, visibility, and transformation
• Together, Fire-Horse years are traditionally seen as dynamic, fast-moving, and powerful

Rather than “burning away the old,” classical thought would frame this as a time when momentum increases and things become more visible and active. What is aligned moves forward swiftly; what is unstable can be exposed just as quickly.

A traditional blessing for the Horse year says it best:

马到成功 (Mǎ dào chéng gōng)
May success arrive as swiftly as a horse.

Wishing you clarity, vitality, and right timing in the year ahead.
新年快乐 — Happy Lunar New Year.

Most people think Tai Chi power is in the hands.

Power in Tai Chi doesn’t start in the hands.

The hands are only the surface of the wave 🌊

Rooted in the feet,
transmitted by the legs,
directed by the waist,
expressed through the hands.

Cloud Hands isn’t arm-waving —
it’s whole-body connection,
like a wave moving through water.

When the body integrates,
movement becomes effortless.

You often see Tai Chi practiced in flowing silks, in beautiful locations.
But in real conditions, it’s often windy.

If you’re practicing Tai Chi outdoors, dress appropriately.
Tai Chi opens the body — stay protected.

Practice smart.

I was 15 years old.
I didn’t expect anything to happen.
Then I felt a real force between my hands.

This was the moment everything changed.

🌀 Pour the Weight.

In this 6-minute tutorial, I guide you through one of Tai Chi’s most foundational skills: weight shifting.

🌀 This isn’t just about moving — it’s about transferring weight with alignment and structural integrity. You’re not pushing. You’re not collapsing. You’re directing force from one side to the other fluidly, while staying rooted and relaxed.

📖 From the Tai Chi Classics:
“If there is an error, look to the legs and the waist.”

🌕 Full Moon Meditation 🌕

Sit in a chair outside, warmly dressed, wearing socks if it’s cold. Keep your spine straight, your feet planted beneath your knees, grounded, and your eyes half-open.

Take a few deep, long breaths. Settle. Then notice the silvery moonlight resting on everything around you. Observe its softness, its shimmer. Then shift your attention from seeing… to listening. ‘Listen’ to the moonlight.

Feel the moonlight on your face. Listen to the moonlight touching your skin.

Now allow this moonlight to gently absorb into the top of your head and scalp. Let it mix with your feeling awareness, becoming one with it. Allow that moonlight-merged awareness to sink down the sides and back of your head, and through your face. Listening. Absorbing.

Let go and allow this moonlight awareness to move down through your body. Wherever you notice numbness, tension, or places you cannot feel — pause, pay attention to, and allow the moonlight to softly absorb into those areas.

If you have areas that need healing, gently move your moonlit awareness there, allowing the light to soak in.

☯️ For those who know Taoist dissolving: let the moonlight merge with your feeling awareness to amplify the dissolving process.

Continue letting the light move downwards — into your chest, belly, hips, legs, all the way to the feet.

Rest here. Happy Full Moon 🌕 ✨
