Felt the need to share this, as I know how common it is for the pill to be prescribed without any discussion of the numerous dangerous side effects. When a so-called ‘holistic gynecologist’ recommended the pill for me to treat a hormonal imbalance resulting in ovarian cysts, I knew there was a different path, one that would increase my awareness over my body, celebrate my femininity, and treat my imbalance at the root to ensure long-term hormone health. I love being a woman, and part of that is loving my incredible monthly cycle that will someday bring new life into this world. Let’s celebrate our cycles instead of trying to control them or erase them so we can participate in a male-centric world.

✨EASE✨

This is my word for 2024. I feel like I’ve spent the last ten years hustling, which is just the reality of being self-employed (especially in Spain, which is the most expensive country in Europe in which to be self-employed). Don’t get me wrong—I’ve loved a lot of these moments of hustle: building and evolving my group barre classes in Madrid, training so many women one-to-one (including some both pre- and post-natal!), getting my nutritionist certification, growing my YouTube channel, learning more about holistic health and balance through my own journey to naturally balance my hormones, and completing my 28-day workout program The Hustle & Flow Guide after nearly three years of development. As satisfying as these accomplishments have been, my body and nervous system are ready for a break from the constant motion.

So, for the first time in years, I am setting 0 goals for the year, other than to be present in each moment, let myself rest, seek out opportunities for ease (not challenge) in my life and work, and find contentment in the stillness without having to be constantly pushing toward something bigger.

🎃 October Wrap-Up 🎃

This one’s been a doozy of a month. But, whenever life gets chaotic, I’m reminded how important my routines are for both my physical and mental health.

Here are a few of my habits that have kept me sane this month:

🚶‍♀️Daily outdoor walks
😴 Unapologetically allowing myself to rest when I needed it
🧘‍♀️Daily guided meditation (focusing on surrender and letting go of control)
🍎 Reaching for healthy snacks for a mid-day boost
🗒️Prioritizing only the most immediate tasks on my to-do list
⛰️Booking a long weekend away from the city in November

😴REST😴

After a super hectic week, I just treated myself to the most relaxing weekend of all time. I watched four movies, did lots of cooking and baking (oat apple banana bread is peak autumn goodness 🍁), snuggled with the cats, and didn’t even leave the house on Sunday. This morning I woke up feeling super motivated to start the week on a productive note and have managed to get in a workout, 10k outdoor steps, and most of my work for the day before lunch.

Moral of the story? Sometimes your body and brain need a rest. Don’t feel guilty or apologize for taking one.

Here are some advantages of taking a lazy day:

🍂Reduces stress and anxiety.

🍂Good for your immune system.

🍂Aids muscle recovery if you’re very active.

🍂Improves productivity and creativity.

🍂Reduces likelihood of experiencing burn-out.

HAPPY SEPTEMBER!

It’s the unofficial start of autumn. After an absolutely epic, action-packed summer, I’m excited for the slower, cozier vibes that autumn brings.

I love living more seasonally as nature intended, so for me autumn is the time for:

🍂 quiet nights in with loved ones

🍂 roasted root vegetables and hearty soups/stews

🍂 moving my body in ways that feel good, especially strength training

🍂 long walks in nature

🍂 hot drinks on chilly mornings

🍂 going to bed earlier as the days get shorter

Can you tell that autumn is my favorite season?

It’s also the season that is most in line with the luteal phase of your monthly cycle, so all those things that feel extra amazing for your body in the autumn months (like my list above!) are also what most nourish your hormones during the luteal phase of your cycle.

A body in harmony with nature is a happy body.

What are your most common cravings?

Often, unhealthy cravings can be eliminated by consuming a more varied, nutrient-dense diet. If you experience frequent cravings, it’s likely your body trying to communicate something that it’s lacking.

🫣CONFESSION🫣

Sometimes I do things that I know are not good for me.

But . . .

I believe it’s possible to live a healthy lifestyle while not being super strict all the time.

But . . .

I’m also not suggesting engaging in these behaviors frequently. These are all things I do probably less than 5% of the time.

It’s all about checking in with how I’m feeling physically, emotionally, and spiritually in the moment and deciding if it’s worth it to deviate from my normal routine a bit. And usually the result of allowing myself a little wiggle room now and again is that I feel even more motivated to get back to my normal routine because it’s what makes me feel my best!
