🌍 Today we are celebrating World Friendship Day 🫂 A day which is celebrated around the world to recognise the importance of friendships between individuals, communities and nations. Here are some of the reasons why child friendships are so important for development…

❤️ Playing with peers builds language and communication skills.
❤️ Friendships provide children with a sense of purpose and belonging, supporting emotional wellbeing as well as building confidence.
❤️ Friendships provide opportunities to build social skills such as sharing, turn taking and cooperation.
❤️ Supports with developing empathy, learning to understand different perspectives and other people’s feelings.
❤️ Playing freely with other children helps them to develop their imagination.
❤️ The ability to make decisions is increased when children play with peers.
❤️ It enables children to learn how to manage their emotions such as dealing with conflict.

Today we’ve been enjoying playing with shaving foam at the clinic, practicing letter formation. Shaving foam is a wonderful opportunity for sensory exploration, providing tactile and olfactory input. Sensory play with shaving foam is also a calming and regulating activity 🫧
