The Winding road to the Wuhan laboratory:
December 30th 2019 the first official announcement from the Wuhan Health Commission: of a “continuous occurrence of pneumonia cases of unknown cause at the Huanan Seafood Market” and calling for all medical authorities to report similar cases. This was followed on Dec 31st by an official announcement claiming that “some medical institutions found a link between the pneumonia cases and the Huanan Seafood Market.” It went on to state that there was “no evidence of person to person transmission or infection among medical personnel.”
January 1st 2020 the seafood market was closed, followed by a thorough clean up. A panel of experts from the National Health Commission arrived in Wuhan and reviewed the case histories of people admitted to the general hospital (which showed 14 had no exposure to the market) then announced a set of diagnostic criteria for the disease: a history of contact with the market; having a fever, displaying the full genomic sequence of the virus. This is classic cover-up strategy-taking control of the narrative. Decide on your source of infection then set-up further investigation to only include data which confirms it and suppress any data which challenges it. A second group or task force was set up on January 26th, heavily loaded with propaganda personnel , vice-chairman the chief propaganda czar of the Chinese Communist party
Since then health officials have repeatedly stated that most cases of the pneumonia have a history of exposure to the market.
Hubai public health authorities notification sent out to research facilities ordering the immediate cessation of analysis of the virus :“Existing samples must be destroyed. Information about the samples, related papers and data are prohibited from release”
Jan 3rd: China National Health Commission distributed a notification letter with a similar directive.
Jan 5th: A team at the P3 Wuhan virology lab led by Zhang Yongzhen isolated and completed the genome sequence of the novel coronavirus covid-19. On the same day the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Centre reported this to the National Health Commission, recommending prevention measures. No response was received
Jan 11th: Zhang Yongzhen posts full genome sequence of the novel coronavirus on virological.org and leading virologists around the world begin analysing it.
Jan 24th Deputy director of Wuhan general hospital publishes a paper in the Lancet stating that the first patient suffering from cv19 admitted on December 1st had no connection to the sea-food market or to subsequent patients, and of three patients admitted on Dec 10 two had no connection to the market. Of a total of forty-one patients counted in the study fourteen (one third) had no connection. A further study published in the Lancet on January 29th which analysed 99 cases found that fifty had no exposure to the market. According to the New England Journal, of the 425 cases confirmed, 45 of the cases with onset of illness prior to Jan 1st had any history of exposure to the market.
January 26th wuhan virology laboratory announces that 33 of the 585 samples from the Huanan seafood market were found to contain the novel coronavirus nucleic acid.
Epidemiological analysis of the data in the Lancet papers by Dr Lucey at Georgetown University showed that the first infection would have already taken place in November 2019 and therefore the virus was “silently spreading” through the community in Wuhan and possibly elsewhere for almost a full month before the cluster of cases from the seafood market was discovered in late December, leading Dr Lucey to assert that “the virus came into that market place before it came out”
Jan 23rd: Shanghai Institute Pasteur of the Chinese Academy of Sciences published a paper in Science China Live Sciences: High homology of key S (spike) protein in Covid-19 with the SARS virus. It is this key protein which permits covid-19 to enter and infect human host cells with such rapidity leading to organ failure
Jan 30th: Lancet paper from national centre for disease control analysing virus samples from 9 patients found 88% similarity to 2 bat-derived viruses- COVZC45 and COVZX21 collected in 2018 in Zhousan, but less similarity (79%) with SARS-COV1 and MERS (50%). Notably Covid-19 has similar receptor binding domain structures to that of SARS- CoV.
Feb 3rd paper published in Nature shows that the Wuhan virus is a coronavirus closely related to COVZC45 and COVZX21, sampled from horseshoe bats in a cave in Zhoushan (600 miles from Wuhan) by the Peoples Liberation Army. Analysis showed an 89.1% nucleotide similarity and 100% similarity in the nsp7 and E (envelope) proteins between the Wuhan virus and COVZC21. This was confirmed by other scientists using BLAST, a data-base programme set up by the National Institute of Health and the National centre for Biotechnology information. It is highly unusual to find 100%genetic homology between viruses that have jumped species, strongly pointing to laboratory retro engineering
Feb 28th: The Shanghai P3 laboratory which first revealed the covid-19 genome sequence was ordered to close by authorities for “rectification”.
The work of Dr Shi Zhengli
Researcher at the Wuhan Institute of virology. Since the SARS epidemic in 2003 she has been researching coronaviruses. Spent many years researching bat coronaviruses. First to discover the key by which they can cross species barriers to infect humans. First to discover that the SARS virus was the result of multiple restructuring of Sars-Like bat viruses.
2015 published paper discussing her work on development of synthetic viruses. From 2010 her team was working on the potential for bat derived coronaviruses to cross the species barrier with focus on the Spike protein, ie the part that can make coronaviruses transmissible to humans.
In June 2010 her team published a paper on the Angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE-2) of different bat species conferring variable susceptibility to SARS CoV entry and the special relationship this protein has with the Spike protein.
In October 2013 the team published a paper in Nature claiming a breakthrough in coronavirus research. They successfully isolated 3 bat viruses one of which had an E protein which integrated with human ACE2 receptors allowing the bat virus to directly infect humans without the need for an intermediary host.
Oct 16th 2014: Obama administration suspended funding for GOF research including Zhengli’s project and a collaborative effort with DR Ralph Berrick at the university of North Carolina.
Nov 2015 published in nature Medicine announced the creation of a self-regulating chimeric virus based on a SARS framework with the key spike protein replaced by the sequence identified in the 2013 paper. This virus had a powerful ability to produce cross species infection: mice suffered incurable lung damage. The creation of this virus opened the door to cross species transmission without an intermediate host.
Zhengli then began work on primates to more closely simulate human infection by the synthetic virus.
Simon Wain-Hobson, a researcher at the Pasteur Institute of Paris stated:” researchers have created a novel virus that grows remarkably well in human cells. If the virus escaped nobody could predict the trajectory
Nov 14 2018: Zhengli addressed an audience at Shanghai University on the subject of bat coronaviruses and cross species infection. Reports of the presentation have since been deleted.
Post Wuhan outbreak: Indian research team found “Uncanny similarity of unique inserts in the 2019 nCoV protein to HIV-1gp 120 which map to the HIV virus genome on Genbank.” The team found 4 non-contiguous inserts at the S protein site which they conclude are :highly unlikely to be fortuitous”. Although Zhengli refuted this, search of Genbank shows only 3 known viruses which have these sequences: HIV itself, a bat virus isolated by Zhengli, and the novel CoV-19, which include E protein Gp 41, an HIV protein which acts as the key to infection of human cells resulting in the functional failure of the immune system. The infectious component of the Wuhan virus- the S protein- incorporates key pieces of the HIV virus which cause the Immuno-deficiency symptoms of the disease.
Feb 3rd 2020: Zhengli published a paper in Nature stating that the Wuhan coronavirus was of probable bat origin noting that it utilised the same key as SARS1 to gain entry to the human body: angiotensin converting enzyme II (ACE2). She also confirmed that CV-19 had a 96.2% homology with bat coronavirus CoVRaTG13 detected in Horseshoe bats sampled in Yunnan province signalling a natural source. However this assertion is doubtful.
