I was reflecting the other day on when I first started practicing chiropractic in 2009, pregnant women would come into the practice as they were having backaches and other problems associated with the process of being pregnant. Their doctors would refuse to give them painkillers. So they chose chiropractic as a natural medicine to help with their pain relief. At what point in history did it become ok for pregnant women to ingest drugs? I honestly don't remember. But it is interesting to reflect that nowadays, I get pregnant women coming into the practice and they are on all sorts of medications, from diabetic drugs because they have gestational diabetes, paracetemol because they have backache, enantyum because of pain or anxiety. Times have changed a lot in the last 15 years, but our bodies and our nervous system remain the same. Surely what wasn´t good to take then, should not be good to take now?
I've just pulled up a research paper from 2014 that recorded over 21,000 citations on the poisonous effects of paracetemol. This is considered "old literature". It might be old, but it just goes to show that what is being discussed now in the news, is in fact, old news that was ignored. Maybe, it´s time to start taking responsibility for our actions and our children's health by researching what may or may be dubiously good for you before you take it?
