🧘‍♀️ About the Course

This introductory course is designed to help you explore and understand the foundations of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and the transformative practice of Yoga Nidra.

✨ Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga

A dynamic style of yoga rooted in the teachings of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (Mysore, India). Its foundations lie in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, where yoga is described as an eight-limbed path guiding practitioners toward harmony of body, mind, and soul.

🌿 The 8 Limbs of Yoga (Ashtanga)

Yama – ethical principles: non-violence, truthfulness, non-stealing, moderation, non-attachment
Niyama – personal discipline: purity, contentment, self-discipline, study, surrender
Asana – physical postures for strength, balance, and flexibility
Pranayama – conscious breathing, expansion of vital energy
Pratyahara – withdrawal of the senses, turning inward
Dharana – concentration, steadying the mind
Dhyana – meditation, cultivating awareness and presence
Samadhi – union, inner peace, connection with the divine

🌸 Benefits for Body & Soul

Physical health: strength, flexibility, vitality, improved posture, stronger immunity
Mental health: clarity, focus, reduced stress, emotional balance
Spiritual growth: self-awareness, inner calm, deeper connection with your essence.

🌙 Yoga Nidra

The course also includes Yoga Nidra, a guided practice of deep relaxation, often called “yogic sleep.” The body rests while the mind stays awake and receptive, allowing profound release, regeneration, and peace.

Background Information

Sunny Yoga was created in 2017 by Roberta Montagnini who started practising yoga 9 years ago following a back injury. Yoga was initially part of her rehabilitation plan as she was in constant pain and this caused her not to be able to perform all her daily activities and had to give up on any office work requiring to sit for long periods of time. After several years of practice, the chronic pain disappeared almost completely, and she regained full mobility in her body. Following this she decided to deepen her knowledge of yoga as she noticed that yoga was not only having a great impact on her physical well-being but was also very calming and relaxing. She completed a year training at Yoga London School, where she studied anatomy, analysis of poses, history and philosophy of yoga, meditation, breathing techniques and more. During this time she came into contact with an enthusiastic yoga community. Many other people had in fact decided to embark on the path of yoga to progress their personal development, both on a spiritual as well as on mental and physical level. Roberta has a background in Social Work and Psychology and worked for London Social Services as well as private organisations for many years. She is based in between London, Andalucia, Spain (where she was organising yoga holidays) and Italy, her own country. She speaks fluent Italian and upper intermediate Spanish and is happy to teach students from any cultural background. She welcomes people from different beliefs and religions as well as non- religious people as her aim is to promote the beneficial effects of yoga in society. Roberta makes sure her students practice in a safe manner and strongly recommends to ask medical advice before practising if students have any previous injury or medical condition which may prevent them to get into the various poses safely as, in some cases, their condition may worsen through the practice if poses are not modified accordingly. Pregnant women are also encouradged to seek medical advice before practising especially during the first stages of pregnancy. Roberta is currently registered with Yoga Alliance and keeps her knowledge up to date through continuous professional development.
