Amanda Dee Yoga

Amanda Dee Yoga Amanda Dee, is a Yoga Teacher, Thai Bodywork therapist since 2003 and she travels around the world managing and creating amazing yoga retreats.

For the past 17 years, Amanda has immersed herself in daily yoga practice. She has studied with various known teachers such as Ramanada Patel, Dharma Mitra, Cindy Lee, Schuyler Grant (Kula Yoga). She also has her 200 hr advance training with Leslie Kaminoff in 'Breath Centered Yoga' a therapeutic approach to yoga, using the breath as a starting point to understand the anatomy of the body in depth. But don't be mistaken, these classes are on the challenging side of the yoga world and are not for the faint hearted, working a lot with inversions, core strengthening within a unique flow sequence of postures
Amanda's experience as a professional dancer and licensed Thai Body-worker is often reflected in her balanced teaching style. Her classes are fun, lively and energetic, though also focused on anatomical alignment, healing and spiritual awareness. She also has a long experience organizing Yoga Retreats all around the world in the best locations ever to practice Yoga while traveling and learn about different cultures.

I’m Amanda Dee Smith.
Originally from the UK, I moved to New York City in 2000 — and that’s where my yoga journey began.

I completed my first teacher training in 2003 and spent the next 15 years teaching full-time in Manhattan, including at studios like Kula Yoga, Pure Yoga, and the Reebok Sports Club. I also began leading international retreats around the world.

In 2012, while leading my annual retreat in Africa, I met my Spanish husband Unai — and everything shifted.

I eventually closed my NYC studio and moved to southern Spain, where I now own ReAlign Yoga Studio in the beach town of Torre de la Horadada.

Today I lead 200-hour Yoga Teacher Trainings and biomechanics-based continuing education (25/50/100 hours), supporting yoga teachers with smarter movement and sustainable practice.

Together with my husband, I’m also a retreat producer, creating international retreats for other yoga teachers in Africa, Bali, Thailand, Iceland, Peru, Central America, and beyond

Wall Push-Up → Wall Walk Progression Begin in a plank with the feet supported on the wall, establishing a closed-chain shoulder position. Perform a controlled push-up with elbows bending posteriorly, maintaining scapular stability through retraction and depression. Progress by walking the feet higher up the wall, increasing shoulder flexion demand and axial load through the upper extremities. With each increment, repeat elbow flexion and extension, then advance by walking the hands closer to the wall. This progression systematically increases moment arm and compressive forces at the glenohumeral joint, challenging serratus anterior activation, scapulothoracic control, and core anti-extension stability while reinforcing efficient force transfer to the midline

I’ve always loved traveling—not just for the places, but for the people, the lifestyles, and the way each culture invites you to see life differently. Every country teaches me something about presence, connection, and seeing beauty everywhere.

This July, I’ll be doing a yoga retreat in Colombia. A place full of color, warmth, rhythm, and soul. Bringing my love for travel and yoga together here feels natural—like listening closely to the land, the movement, and the moment we’re in

Handstand balance cheat

Kick up to a wall-supported handstand.
Place your head lightly against the wall.
Shift one foot just past your plumb line, flex it, then bring the other foot to meet it.

This variation looks freestanding, but more importantly it teaches you exactly where your center of gravity is—so you can find real balance without the wall.

Extra tip: When kicking up to the wall, start with your shoulders already stacked over your wrists and your gaze slightly forward. This makes a huge difference when bringing the legs up, because your shoulders are already aligned with gravity over the wrists—so far less effort is needed to get into position.

Side plank with lotus leg. Use a strap if needed to find the bind. Bend the bottom knee to lift the hips higher and build strength through the underside of the body. Open the chest. Strap or no strap?👇 Save this one and try it.

As I get closer to 50, I’ve been thinking about how grateful I am to still feel healthy and strong.
I’ve been practicing yoga for 25 years now,
and it’s honestly been the thing that keeps me grounded.
Whenever life feels overwhelming, yoga always brings me back to myself.
It reminds me to slow down, breathe, and take care of my body.

I’m not trying to chase youth — I just want to feel good and stay well.
And after all these years, yoga is still my anchor.

I’d love to know… what’s been yours?

Why Yoga?

"Yoga has been a huge part of my life for many years. Growing up in England I was always a person that found my peace within movement, attending dance school and eventually becoming a professional belly dancer and African dancer, still something was missing. I moved to America when I was 20 years old and dropped into a yoga class, because I saw a friend doing a beautiful headstand moving her legs in a meditative motions on the top of a mountain at sunset. I wanted to do that, wow! but also I heard that yoga helps you to become more flexible, which is great for dancers. On attending the classes with my first teacher Betsy Ceva, she introduced me to so much more than my limited understanding of the practice, she taught me dance, meditation, philosophy, science, anatomy, understanding people, appreciating my environment and my world, living a healthy lifestyle and connecting me with open honest, contented people striving for a better world. From then on I was hooked and eventually wanted to share this knowledge with others. So why Yoga, yoga is a way of life."
