Ethiopian Hospitals Alliance for Quality has been reactivated!

It has been taking long distance to reach at the right conclusions and decisions through involving all the necessary technical experts for us to start third cycle EHAQ.
The focus area for the third cycle is Clean And Timely Care in Hospitals for Institutional Transformation (CATCH-IT) by actively involving all the relevant stakeholders,
Steering committees comprising of senior technical experts are estabished, project discription and all the necessary documents related to the focus area are approved and ready for implementation developed. From now on, we will regularly keep our followers updated the progress.

Happening in Adama: Since Yesterday the Medical Services General Directorate through its Health Services Quality Directorate has been developing various national clinical auditing tools to standardize and support the efforts made in quality of clinical services being delivered in public hospitals. Through these standardized tools hospitals and other external bodies will be able to monitor and follow the inputs, process and outcome of the clinical services that you are providing by regularly conducting the audit to pick any possible medical errors or gaps and use the findings for quality improvement activities. While developing the tools local and international experiences were well discussed, Senior clinical and public health experts are contributing a lot and full engaged to make the tools user friendly and standardized. The workshop will be over by tomorrow.

Successfully Closed Now:
The final Ethiopian Hospital Services Transformation Guideline revision workshop held in Adama is successfully finished. Totally19 relevant chapters with two volumes will be published and distributed to all hospitals and regions in a very short period of time. Important services management chapters like radiology service, Rehablitation and palliative cares and othe were incorporated in the new edition guideline.

It has been taking long distance to reach at the right conclusions and decisions through involving all the necessary technical experts and the blessing of higher officials for us to start second cycle EHAQ site validations. Nine validating teams each comprising of senior technical experts including highly experienced obstetrician are standby and a total of 48 hospitals Will be validated. All the necessary preparations are ready and it will be started on February 18/2016. We wish all the best for all!

After finalizing EHAQ preliminary screening ( Considering 2007 E.C EHRIG & KPIs performances and SSS reports) , last Thursday on November 18/2015, Official letter of requesting Secondary screening results was sent to all RHBs and all results are expected to reach at FMoH/MSD by November 30/2015 till 5፡30 PM. The letter clearly stated/briefed four main criteria for all RHBs to consider while ranking their respective regional hospitals and those criteria are:-
1. EHRIG performance
2. Improvement in " Delivery and obstetric cares "
3. CASH implementation performance and
4. Hospital to Health center supports.

The last EHAQ screening phase which is Site validation will be started in two weeks time. Well oriented, Neutral, Senior and high level technical experts are, recruited from various organizations, and ready to conduct the validations in the coming two weeks, EHAQ wishes all the best to all hospitals.

What: A national initiative by which Essential and Emergency Surgical care services will be emphasized and supported with various national, regional and facility level interventions.

Why: This initiative mainly aimed at fostering safe surgery throughout the country to alleviate the national burden of diseases and bring palpable changes in the health systems delivery.

How: Through focused and integrated material, financial and technical intensive supports, Essential and Emergency Surgical services delivery will be improved by strengthening Emergency and trauma centers, surgical outpatient and inpatient departments, operation theatre, Central sterilization and laundry units, Post-anaesthesia care unit (PACU), Intensive care unit (ICU), Surgical equipment, and Anesthesia equipment and supplies.
