🔹 What is Hepatitis B?
Hepatitis B is a viral infection that affects the liver. It can be acute (short-term) or chronic (long-term). It’s spread through:
• Contact with infected blood or body fluids
• Unprotected s*x
• Sharing needles or syringes
• From mother to baby at birth
Doses
Typically 3 doses (some versions use 2 doses)
Age groups;
Given to newborns, children, adolescents, and at-risk adults
🔹 Who Should Get It?
• All infants (first dose at birth)
• Children and teens who didn’t get it as babies
• Adults at risk, including:
• Healthcare workers
• People with multiple s*x partners
• People with chronic liver disease or HIV
• Travelers to regions with high HBV prevalence
• People who inject drugs; nurses, doctors, paramedics, pharmacists etc
🔹 Effectiveness
• Over 95% protection if full series is received
• Protection lasts at least 20 years, often for life
• No booster needed for most people
