Vayu participated in the “Tiny Feet, Big Steps” conference in Addis Ababa (Dec 4–6), joining many engaged attendees for meaningful, forward-looking discussions on advancing neonatal care.

Throughout the conference, Dr. Kullehe from the Vayu team led hands-on bCPAP workshops for doctors and nurses, helping strengthen practical skills that directly support newborns across Ethiopia.

The energy and dedication shown throughout the conference serve as a reminder that progress in neonatal care is both possible and within reach. This collective effort strengthens the entire care community—and ultimately, the newborns who depend on it.

📍Brazil

Dr. Lia Brasil from the Vayu team has been leading Vayu bCPAP trainings in Labor & Delivery at Maternidade Escola, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.

Over the past two weeks, she has been supporting the implementation of a new protocol that brings Vayu bCPAP directly into the delivery room and during transport to the NICU—helping newborns receive respiratory support on bCPAP from their very first moments.

📍South Africa

Our South African distributor, Class Three Medical Solutions, led an inspiring World Prematurity Day campaign celebrating the resilience of premature babies and raising awareness across hospitals throughout South Africa.

As part of their outreach, they sponsored WPD-themed events. Additionally, they hand-crafted and distributed handmade purple crochet bears to neonatal units—a small but powerful reminder of hope, strength, and community support for patients, their families, and healthcare workers. 💜

We are incredibly proud of this initiative and grateful to collaborate with partners who share Vayu’s commitment to improving care for the smallest and most vulnerable patients. Together, we’re building a brighter, healthier future for babies everywhere! 🌍

📍Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 🇧🇷

Today, a bCPAP workshop was held at the Brazilian Perinatology Conference, led by Dr. Guilherme Sant’Anna from McGill University. Dr. Sant’Anna brought together an incredible group of health professionals from across Brazil to share their experiences from the field. Among them was our very own Lia Brasil, whose testimony on the use of the Vayu bCPAP highlighted the profound impact that simple, reliable respiratory support can have on newborn survival.

Hearing firsthand how bCPAP is transforming care in diverse clinical settings across the country reinforces why our work matters. We are deeply grateful for the dedication of Brazil’s neonatal community and remain committed to expanding access to Vayu’s devices so that together, we can help support more babies and young children throughout the country.

On , we recognize the ongoing need to strengthen care for premature babies and to raise awareness of the critical challenges they face. remains a leading cause of neonatal mortality; and early, effective respiratory support is essential to improving survival and long-term outcomes.

Vayu’s bCPAP System was developed to help meet this need by providing a durable, cost-effective, and accessible solution for treating respiratory distress in newborns. Its design is intentionally simple, enabling quality care, even when resources are limited.

By expanding access to effective CPAP therapy, the Vayu bCPAP System allows healthcare professionals to deliver reliable care to premature infants. On this day of global awareness, we reaffirm the importance of innovations that strengthen neonatal care and improve the health of the smallest and most vulnerable patients.

We also extend our gratitude to our partners, , for their consistent support. Together, we are strengthening pathways to healthier, more sustainable futures for babies and young children worldwide.

What Are the Symbols of World Prematurity Day? 💜

1) The Color Purple
The color purple represents sensitivity and compassion, qualities that define the care and love surrounding preterm babies and their families.

2) The Socks Line
The “socks line”—a row of nine small purple baby socks and one tiny sock—symbolizes that 1 in 10 babies is born prematurely. It’s a simple yet moving way to show that every baby matters.

This November 17th, join the world in raising awareness:
- Wear purple
- Post about World Prematurity Day to spread awareness
- Stand with families of preterm babies everywhere

Last week, the Vayu team and our Project HOPE partners wrapped up an intensive program equipping healthcare professionals with the skills to confidently use—and teach others to use—Vayu devices.

Seeing these trainers grow in both technical skill and facilitation has been inspiring. Their leadership will fuel cascade trainings across Ghana in the weeks ahead, expanding the reach of Vayu’s life-saving solutions even further.
