The number of to***co smokers in the WHO Africa region was estimated at 52 million in 2000 but increased to 66 million in 2015. It is projected to increase to 84 million in 2025 making the region one of only two regions in the world projected to have an increase in the number of to***co smokers.

Given that Sub-Saharan Africa has the largest relative increase in the number of to***co users than any other region, it is predicted to become the epicentre of the next to***co epidemic. We need to act now to prevent this outcome.

Grow food, not to***co.

Did you know that every year, a staggering 8 million lives are lost due to to***co-related causes? What's even more alarming is that 80% of these deaths occur in low and middle-income countries. We cannot turn a blind eye to this global health crisis any longer. It's time to take action!

Education, awareness, and support are crucial in combating to***co use and its devastating effects. Let's empower individuals, communities, and governments to take decisive action against to***co and protect the health and well-being of millions of people.

National and subnational immunisation coverage rates have stagnated in many countries, and it’s time to catch up.

We stand with The World Health Organization in promoting better access to vaccination in the African Region and encouraging parents to keep their children’s vaccination schedules up to date because !

Diseases like polio belong in the history books. Let’s get vaccines to the children who need them. Catching up on vaccinations means healthier kids and stronger, safer communities.

Let's join forces to ensure that every child in Africa can receive life-saving vaccines. Although the African region faces challenges in accessing vaccines, we can make a significant impact by spreading awareness and taking action.

Around 1 in 5 African children still lack access to basic vaccines, resulting in over 30 million under-five children suffering from vaccine-preventable diseases each year. This unfortunate reality leads to more than half a million children dying annually from VPDs, which accounts for roughly 58% of global VPD-related deaths.

In light of World Immunisation Week, let's encourage everyone to speak with their local healthcare provider if their children or loved ones have missed their vaccines. Remember, !

Malaria is both preventable and curable. If you notice any symptoms, seek advice from a medical practitioner and ask your clinic for a rapid test.

Today, we stand with the World Health Organization in its mission to end malaria in the WHO African Region, which accounted for 95% of the 247 million global malaria cases in 2021.

The rainy season is when our families and children are most at risk for malaria. Symptoms to watch for include fever, chills, weakness, and other flu-like symptoms. Time is of the essence in detecting and treating malaria.

Ask your local clinic or doctor for a malaria rapid diagnostic test, which is both quick and easy. It's also important to note that the RTS,S vaccine is the only vaccine recommended by the World Health Organization for children in areas with high transmission of malaria.

Let's work together to . Please share this information to help us get to zero malaria faster.

What the world needs now - especially African children under 5 - is a massive catch-up. The World Health Organisation calls it ‘The Big Catch-Up!’ for a reason.

Immunisations have helped reduce child deaths by 60% since 1990. But during the pandemic, child immunisation rates had their largest sustained backslide in 30 years.

This alarming trend stops here🤚 We must restore + strengthen immunisation systems, because .
