It was a privilege to attend the Online Safety Commission Conference in recognition of Safer Internet Day 2026, themed “Smart tech, safe choices – exploring the safe and responsible use of AI.”

The conference highlighted the growing impact of artificial intelligence on online safety, online crime, and justice systems, with a strong focus on the Pacific context. The discussions also emphasized the importance of including digital citizenship education in school curricula, with training that equips students to navigate the online world safely and responsibly.

It was encouraging to see collaboration across Fiji Police Force, International partners from Netsafe, UNFPA Pacific, and youth advocates from Miss Fiji Pageant, all working toward safer, more informed digital spaces.

Thank you to the organizers and speakers for a timely and insightful discussion on responsible technology use and online safety.
