PUBLIC HEALTH ADVISORY

The Ministry of Health & Medical Services - Fiji advises the public to refrain from entering the Colo-i-Suva Forest Park area and swimming at the forest pools until further notice due to leptospirosis risk following recent cases.

To date, one confirmed death and two suspected leptospirosis cases are under investigation at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital.

After heavy rainfall, river and pool waters may be contaminated and unsafe.

Watch for signs of Leptospirosis:
Fever
Headache
Muscle pain
Red eyes
Vomiting
Yellowing of eyes/skin

Seek early screening and prompt management at your nearest health facility if unwell.

Early treatment saves lives.
