Doctors have linked va**ng to a rare, incurable lung condition called obliterative bronchiolitis, often referred to as “popcorn lung.” The disease permanently scars and narrows the lungs’ airways, causing lifelong breathing problems.
Researchers found that certain chemicals in v**e liquids — including diacetyl and other flavoring agents — can destroy lung tissue even in small amounts. Cases have appeared in young people with no prior respiratory issues, alarming public health experts.
Unlike other lung diseases, popcorn lung has no cure and no effective long-term treatment. The damage progresses silently, sometimes before symptoms appear, making early detection extremely difficult.
This discovery adds urgency to growing concerns about the safety of va**ng, especially among teenagers.
