Why (and when) to fuel on long runs or hikes ⬇️

When you exercise, your muscles rely on glycogen, your stored energy, to keep moving. For most people, glycogen lasts around 60–90 minutes of continuous activity. After that, energy drops, fatigue sets in, and performance suffers.
That’s why snacking mid-run or mid-hike matters:

90+ minutes of activity → top up glycogen to maintain steady energy

Prevent cramps & low mood → fuel with carbs + electrolytes

Support recovery → even small bites of protein help muscles bounce back faster

Think of fueling like tiny pit stops for your body. The right snack at the right time = more energy, happier muscles, and a more enjoyable adventure.

trail running in Menorca, 10/10 would recommend 🩵🌞

Keep it light, keep it essential. Here’s what I hit the trails with:

🔹 Wunder Train Shorts – From one thick-thighed runner to another: these are the shorts. No riding up, no chafing, just all-day comfort (even on the 15k+ days).
🔹 A good hat – Doubles as sun shield and rain blocker, with a bright pop of colour. Still searching for speedy glasses that don’t make me look like a bug.
🔹 Headphones – Because when I hit the pain cave, a good beat can work actual magic.
🔹 Running vest – With a 1L water pouch + pockets for snacks, gels, layers… basically my mini mountain survival kit.
🔹 Snacks – Skittles. Yes, Skittles. Quick carbs, good vibes. Don’t knock it till you try it.
🔹 Forerunner – My pace, distance, elevation wingman.
🔹Lip balm - no matter how much water I drink, my lips somehow will still feel chapped during my run

Busy bee lately 🐝
Only 8 weeks until and the momentum isn't slowing down any time soon! Here's a lil sneek peak into the chaos, joy and movement lately 🩵😁

1) lovely trail run in the rain 🦆
2) finally cracked the overhang climb that has taken me far too long to crack, can't explain how happy this makes me 🧗🏽‍♀️
3) a sociabable 12.5km run with furry friends 🐾
4) I do ✌🏽waaaay to much, will take referrals for other posing positions in comments ⬇️
5) lovely afternoon "recovery" swim of 1.5km, striving to get the time under 30 mins 🐳
6) to run strong and keep my body going in all the actives, strength training is the backbone of it all 💪🏽
7) lakeside, morning yoga (while the Sun shined for about 10 mins then got freezing cold & rained) yay spring in the mountains 🏔️
8) a much enjoyed beer with an insane view 🍻🏔️
