‘How lucky am I to be overwhelmed by the things I used to dream of’
….is my 2025 in one line. ❤️

Not to be ‘uncool’ reflecting on insta- let’s be honest, memories fade, notes get lost - this post I will read years later🤭

And 2025 has been life-changing to say the least. How one wants ‘everything at the same time!’ - …I got it.

I became a British citizen. (13 years it took me)
I became a mom to a wonderful baby girl…(3rd time lucky)
…and as if becoming a parent doesn’t change your life completely - we found and bought our house (after 6 years living in our first home, new built flat), moving from Canary Wharf to countryside village, an old house needing renovation - just what we used to dream of. (Silly silly us..😆)
We got our first car and I finally started driving. (I had my licence for 19 years now,,,)
I finished my nutrition degree. (3 years)
😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫
‘Before’ and ‘After’ image of this year is mind-blowing for me. What ‘before and after’ usually doesn’t show is all the hard work, sweat, isolation, sleepless nights (I didn’t know body can survive without sleep for 8+ months), anxiety (reached whole new levels) and tears (same) in-between. I’m endlessly grateful but I admit - It’s been a GROWTH for me.

Cheers to 2025! When everything happened. 🥂

A photo of a father leaving the hospital with his newborn is a classic heart-melter. It captures pride, joy, one of life’s happiest moments. What it doesn’t show is what it took to get to that walk — and how many of us carry something heavier in it.

Our hospital exit was a happy moment — we’d spent five long days there and couldn’t wait to show our baby that the world was more than blood tests and stuffy, sunless rooms. But by the time we reached the doors, I was in tears. Partly ‘baby blues’, sure… but mostly because those eight minutes held the weight of the last two years.

It was late, the hospital quiet. We passed the postnatal and special care units — where my baby spent her first days, sleeping on me, with my cannulas poking her every time I held her.

Then past the induction unit. I teared up, unconsciously - while brain memory is a blur, my body probably remembers. My ‘natural, unmedicated birth plan’ didn’t last. Hyperstimulation right after the first gel - contractions hit every minute, 40 seconds long. I was in shock, trying to use all the hypnobirthing techniques learned — before the breaks between contractions disappeared completely. Three hours later, epidural — something my ‘birth plan’ said “No” to. And oh my body obeyed old commands: epidural barely worked.

Ah yes…here we pass the theatre, where, after nearly 24 hours and c-section, I finally saw my perfect, healthy baby. I couldn’t hold her as I was shaking, exhausted, and unable to move. The guilt of not giving her the ‘welcome’ is with me to stay.

I was sobbing, following Sam and Lily in her little car seat, capturing each moment…

We passed EPAU… where less than a year ago, I arrived with my second miscarriage.

Travel Plans 2024 ♥️

But first, Nutrition Fun fact: water has been shown to lower cholesterol, thus benefitting the heart. It contains 27 of the 34 essential minerals. 😻

Now…January blues has not kicked in yet, but I’m already dreaming of travel 😄🙈 No idea what this year will bring us but ohhhh I’m craving Spain right now with its food and sunshine ☀️ 😍

🤔Do you have any recommendations there? I’ve only been to Barcelona and Mallorca🫣

Also Japan is on a wish list 😻

👩🏽‍🔬 Which of these breakfasts is healthier (nutritionist’s recommendation)?

👌🏼Eggs and avocado provide protein and healthy fats, while oats, blueberries, and peanut butter offer fiber, antioxidants, and a balance of nutrients.

BUT:

☝️Chose eggs if your goal is to get leaner;

✌️Never use ‘fast’ oats (those you need to just cover with water or use microwave- that’s more cake than oats for your body 🙈), only long boil;

🤟🏽Add seeds and sprouts and make sure you chew well (to release digestive enzymes in your saliva);

What’s your usual breakfast? 🥰⬇️

☕️WHY I STOPPED DRINKING COFFEE WITH BREAKFAST. 🫠

One of the changes I made since my nutrition education and here is why:

1. Did you know that coffee contains tannins that can bind to iron and block its absorption into the body from your intestines? This can lead to iron deficiency, which can cause symptoms such as itchy skin, fatigues. So it’s not just about having a healthy breakfast, it is making sure it gets properly absorbed.
2. Caffeine inhibits Vitamin D receptors within your body, which limits the amount absorbed when you take supplemental forms such as Vitamin D3. Reduced Vitamin D levels affect the absorption and use of calcium in building strong bones. It is all connected…
3. Finally, drinking coffee can increase cortisol levels, which can interfere with the body's natural cortisol production and lead to negative health effects such as weight gain, anxiety, and high blood pressure. MOREOVER, cortisol (energy) is already at its highest when we wake up (and if not - there is always an underlying health issue!!!) so why take it through the roof.

❗️PRACTICAL SOLUTION:

Drink your coffee an hour or so after breakfast and on its own. It is even more enjoyable mid-morning I promise 👌🏼

❤️Follow - more to come 😉

🫐Are fruits actually that good for you? 🍉

As well as having lots of vitamins and antioxidants, fruits are usually packed with sugar ( berries are better in that regard) so ‘moderation’ is the key.

❌Avoid having fruits as a snack between meals - large insulin spike will bring more negative effect than the fruit’s benefit.

❗️ Great to have fruit as a part of your breakfast for example, once you started with your protein+fat (egg, cheese etc), fruit with coconut yoghurt is a superb finish 👌🏼

Finally, here are some great healthy fruit examples (ensure you have a variety in your diet):

1. 🫐Blueberries: Rich in antioxidants and phytochemicals, blueberries are known for their brain-boosting properties and potential benefits for heart health.
2. 🍓Strawberries: These berries are an excellent source of vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants. They may have anti-inflammatory properties and can support heart health.
3. 🥑Avocado: Although technically a fruit, avocados are known for their healthy fats, including monounsaturated fats. They are also a good source of fiber, potassium, and vitamins C and E.
4. 🍎Apples: Apples are a good source of dietary fiber and vitamin C. They also contain antioxidants and may support heart health and aid digestion.
5.🍊Oranges: High in vitamin C and fiber, oranges are refreshing and provide a good amount of hydration. They also contain antioxidants and can support immune health.

Though summer is unfashionably late, my body clock is on time - craving salads and fruit, refusing comforting soups and stews 👌🏼

Meal prep & shopping tip: stock up on salad and veg of all colours, add 3 sources of protein (chicken, prawns, cheese?), 2 healthy dressings and be creative every day 😍never gets boring and so fast to prep 👌🏼
