Our Story
Visit opc.ngo for detailed information about our organisation, accounts, projects and eye health information.
The OPC is an international NGO with specific expertise in ocular public health, which has been in operation since 1978. It fights to preserve the sight of as many people as possible in the most deprived populations in developing French-speaking countries. As a result, millions of people don’t lose their sight or are able to recover their sight, enabling them to continue their social and professional lives while remaining independent and autonomous.
“Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.” (Confucius)
The philosophy of the OPC is not just about providing aid. One of our main objectives is to train, support and empower eye health workers, who can then care for the most disadvantaged populations affected by visual impairment.
The OPC has a long standing trade record of rigorous management, allowing all donors, be they individuals or businesses, to provide support whilst being completely assured of the correct destination, and good use, of their donation.
