A gentle note to all clients, from 1st May 2026, there will be a small price increase to all treatments.

As a small business, with a very loyal client base, I have tried to absorb as many costs as possible over the last few years, however recent rises in rent costs and wider cost of living increases means I can no longer do this. All follow-on appointments with rise by £3 from £55 to £58. Initial consultations will be £65.

As always, from the bottom of my heart, I wanted to thank you all for your continued support! 🙏

Do you have private medical insurance?

If so, it’s worth looking into your cover. Many plans cover complementary therapies, including acupuncture. And as a member of the British Acupuncture Council you can rest assured that I am highly qualified and practice to the highest standards in the UK.

Let me ask you…

Waking in the night and struggling to fall back to sleep?

All too familiar with 2am, 3am, 4am…?

Or perhaps your sleep pattern changes at different phases of your menstrual cycle?

Acupuncture can be a great option to help restore your sleep to a more natural rhythm. Whether treating this standalone or in combination with other challenges, I so often treat sleep complaints – and with success! Not a life changing miracle cure, acupuncture can, with patience and perseverance, help to reduce the number of ‘bad nights’ - encouraging deeper, less disturbed, more restorative sleep.

🍲 Bone Broth 🍲

Winter is a harsh season for the body, asking a lot of our inner resources and strength. Still wintering for a short while longer, many people are feeling the effects of colder, darker months, looking for a tonic to satisfy that inner craving for something rich and nourishing. Bone broth is the ultimate winter tonic in Chinese Medicine, akin to putting ourselves on “fast charge” for a while

Throw a mixture of bones, vegetables, herbs & spices and a dash of vinegar into some water and cook low, slow and for a veeeery long time (at least 8 hours). Enjoy drinking warm or add to a dish like you would a stock!

Chinese Medicine is more than just acupuncture needles and conversations, it teaches us to look after our bodies in every way, from lifestyle to diet, from skincare to complementary therapies. ☀🌱🐦 A mindful moment 🐦🌱☀️

A hint of sunshine as I headed out for a walk and play at the park with my daughter yesterday afternoon. A welcome break in the rain.

The gentle rays of light reaching every corner of my body. A time to shift the damp cloth which has wrapped us all for several weeks. A time to move the body’s energy. A time to soften the mind’s chatter and breathe a sigh of relief knowing that Spring is soon to come. Left with a sense of peace and tranquility, my whole body softer and lighter – a renewed spring in my step.

With the nicer weather forecast to stay a little while longer, this is your Friday reminder to head outdoors this weekend, in whatever way feels best.

Take in all the sights, sounds, smells.

A mindful moment to reset the body.

Acupuncture is an investment; it can take time to see a difference. When we catch up at the beginning of treatment, we spend so much time discussing how the big stuff feels better. Often overlooked are the small & subtle. I love to celebrate the things you didn’t expect to get from acupuncture but did…better sleep, more energy and motivation, calm mind. To me, these are just as important because it means something’s changing because of the needles! Slowly but surely the body is starting to mend and rebalance from head to toe, mind and body 🍃

Acupuncture is a gentle, non-invasive and natural option worth exploring to soften perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms. Either on its own or alongside HRT, acupuncture can, for many women, lessen hot flushes, sleep challenges, anxiety, mood swings and brain fog. Whilst not a ‘miracle cure’ acupuncture is well reported to bring about calmness in the body and nurture balance when things feel out of kilter.

I hold a warm, non-judgmental space to speak openly, offer advice and create a bespoke tailored treatment plan for you. Find out more on my website, get in touch today or book now through the link below...

Cold, damp weather can wreak havoc on our joints & muscles. Whether you suffer from pain all the time, intermittently or seasonally – pain is usually worst during the winter months. Acupuncture can be like a dose of summer warmth during these cold, dark days. Stimulating the release of pain-relieving endorphins, increasing blood flow and reducing inflammation, acupuncture is a gentle, non-invasive approach to manage and reduce pain levels. Suffering from pain - back pain, neck pain, knee pain?

I am so often, quietly, asked whether acupuncture can support hormones. It makes my heart sing because, yes! Acupuncture is a natural, gentle, non-invasive option worth exploring whether trying for a baby, experiencing challenging menstrual cycles or transitioning through the menopause.

Whilst not life changing, Acupuncture can help guide the body to a more balanced state, deeply calming the nervous system. Almost more importantly, I offer a space to feel heard, to be able to show up as you are without judgement, and an opportunity to slow down.

Wintering❄️

I love this term – ‘wintering’. Whilst it’s very appropriate for the season, it’s a perfect way to describe a deep inner need to slow down and take stock of life.

With clinic a lot quieter just now, I am presented with an opportunity to both plant seeds for the future and, myself, winter.

I so often remind others to winter too, especially when they feel the need to rest and retreat. Much of my work as an acupuncturist is in softening people’s nervous systems, reminding the body that it doesn’t need to be ‘ready to fight’ all the time. In fact, to be in fight mode all the time can be detrimental to our wellbeing. The tonic - life, just like Yin and Yang, requires balance between activity and rest. Yet our modern lives constantly tell us that rest is wrong and unconstructive.

I long ago learnt to embrace periods of ‘wintering’ after reading a wonderful book, appropriately named, “Wintering” by Katherine May. In no way an ad, I can thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who feels this resonates. And I encourage you to ‘winter’ just now!

If you need a little help with this, Acupuncture can be a wonderful place to start 👉 www.bryonydowsonacupuncture.co.uk/book-an-acupuncture-appointment)

Happy New Year! ✨

I hope you all had a restorative winter break ❄️ and winter it sure it!

January can be a tricky month to navigate for many reasons, made even more difficult this year with an unexpected snowball. This is a gentle reminder from me to be kind to yourself.

To lean in to the body’s need to ‘winter’ – slow days, no plans, early nights, introspection.

And make sure self-care takes priority, your body needs that little bit more tender loving care. Be that hearty, warming foods. Cosy, crunchy walks. A good book. A new craft project. A long phone call with a loved one. Reflexology. Acupuncture. A time to plant wellness seeds for the months ahead.

Sending light 🕯
