Death doula duties can vary according to the needs of whoever they're supporting at the time. A death doula might focus on doing the practical tasks - such as dog walking or shopping - that allows the people close to the person who's dying to focus on spending quality time with their loved one.

A big part of the death doula's role can be to listen to the person who's dying, and those close to them, offering non-judgemental, emotional and spiritual support. This might include helping with decision-making and supporting meaningful conversations around wishes and plans, as well as being someone to talk to.

Good Morning, apologies for not posting sooner.
The reason is that i have been looking after my brother who has terminal cancer. It is i suppose, training for the journey i am about to take. Albeit a very personal and sad one at the very beginning.

The main reason i have decided, along with Karen, to practice as a Death Doula, is my unwavering belief that nobody should die alone. My grandfather died in hospital alone. It is understandable in a hospital, the nursing staff nowadays are so busy that sometimes a patient can pass away without them realising for a time.

My dad passed away without his family close by, and recently my son passed away alone. I don't want to depress you, the reader. I am explaining that this is sometimes an unavoidable tragedy. Something we would like to redress if circumstances allow.

Now i have retired, i would like to give back. Thanks for reading, i just felt that i should properly explain my main reason for embarking on this career.

More posts soon. Where i will explain in more detail, what we do.

It happens to often. Now i am retired i can give my time to this job.
