What is dynamic power management? It’s a smart new way to achieve all day battery life.(*) When you have a cochlear implant, your implant and sound processor send power and sound data back and forth throughout the day. Dynamic power management improves the efficiency of this transfer to maximise your battery life. And it’s only available with the world’s first and only smart cochlear implant in the Nucleus Nexa System. Discover a game changer in hearing https://bit.ly/4mkkd1H

(*) For Nucleus 8 Nexa and Kanso 3 Nexa sound processors, a full day of battery life is defined as 16 hours.

🎾 Meet Ethan, our 2025 Cochlear Family Award Runner-Up 🎾

Born with sensorineural hearing loss, Ethan's journey took a transformative turn at age 13 when he conducted his own research and chose to receive bilateral Cochlear implants.

Now at 18, Ethan wears Cochlear Nucleus 8 Sound Processors that have unlocked his full potential on and off the tennis court: "My passion is tennis and my CI's allow me to hear during matches. I have also started to coach others, and can now hear the questions cross court from the people I coach."

Setting his sights on the future, Ethan's determination extends beyond the court. He's currently studying Sports Management at university, and from player to coach, he's proving that hearing loss doesn't limit your game plan. "My ambition is to work in a field where athletes of all abilities and backgrounds can help reach their potential and where I can promote engagement to improve the health of our communities." Congratulations Ethan!

💃 Meet Kennedy, our 2025 Cochlear Family Achieve Award Winner 💃

Born with microtia and atresia, Kennedy underwent hearing implant surgery at age 7 and received her Baha device. Now aged 22, Kennedy has transformed her hearing journey into her greatest strength. Her passion? Music, dance and acting - pursuits that might seem impossible to some, but Kennedy proves otherwise.

"I love to use movement to express myself. My Baha helps me stay in synch and pick up important cues in the studio, whether it's timing, rhythm or feedback. It's changed my life. Being deaf has become my superpower and shaped the person I am today."

Kennedy is making a difference beyond the dance floor. Studying for a Masters in Disability Rights & Inclusion whilst working multiple part-time jobs, she is routinely advocating for the deaf community in the Arts.

Kennedy's story shows us that what makes us different can become our greatest strength. Through dance, advocacy, and sheer determination, she's creating ripples of change for the entire community. Congratulations on being the well-deserved inaugural winner of the Cochlear Family Achieve Award!

🎭 Meet Maia, our 2025 Anders Tjellström Scholarship Winner 🎭

Born with microtia and wearing Baha 6 Max sound processors, Maia followed her passion for storytelling and journalism to study English Literature at Durham University. Maia enjoys performing and is on a mission to transform theatre - breaking barriers, one performance at a time.

"Theatre is dominated by stereotypes that say deaf people can't act, direct or create. With every play I take part in, I help to dismantle those stereotypes."

Winning the scholarship has given her the security to chase her dreams. "I want to stay as creative as I can, hopefully writing for theatre or working in journalism. This scholarship allows me to pursue my passions."

Congratulations, Maia! Your story reminds us that representation matters - and when we challenge assumptions, we open doors for others to follow. Know someone who could be eligible to apply for a Cochlear scholarship? Discover next year's opportunities https://bit.ly/4pMZbLg

🌟 Meet Eytan, our 2025 Graeme Clark Scholarship Winner! 🌟

Born profoundly deaf, Eytan became one of the youngest children in the UK to receive bilateral cochlear implants at just 15 months old at Great Ormond Street Hospital. A season ticket holder at Watford FC, a keen regular at music festivals and fresh back from Interrailing across Europe, Eytan is now pursuing university studies, undertaking a course that allows him to pursue his interests in accessibility and equality in Geography.

“My journey with Cochlear implants has shaped not only my identity but also my aspirations. It has instilled in me a drive to ensure that spaces and legal frameworks are inclusive for all. I look forward to taking the next step in this journey, combining my passion for Geography with my commitment to advocating for a more accessible world.”

Eytan's academic achievements and his journey from that tiny patient at Great Ormond Street to a confident young adult ready to take on the world is nothing short of inspiring. Congratulations, Eytan! We can't wait to see where your adventures take you next.
