📢 Important Patient Update – Diabetes Blood Tests

You may have seen the BBC news article on Friday (5th September) https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4g7d3w7gdlo about problems with HbA1c blood tests at some UK laboratories.

We want to reassure our patients that this issue does not affect our service.

✅ There is no need for our patients to worry or repeat their HbA1c tests due to this news story.

Errors by diabetes analysis machines mean at least 55,000 people in England will need further hospital tests.

📈 Busiest July on Record for General Practice Teams! 🩺

Did you know: General practice teams across the country delivered an incredible 33.6 million appointments in July 2025 – that’s a 4.3% increase compared to last year and a massive 24.3% rise compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019. 💪

🏡 Gp teams also continued to support vulnerable patients, carrying out 127,112 care home visits – the second highest number ever recorded.

When you find out you are pregnant, you can refer yourself for NHS pregnancy care so you start care with a midwife right away.
Once you sign up online, the maternity team will contact you to book your first appointment with a midwife.
You should do this by the 10th week of pregnancy, if possible, but it’s never too late to start. If you're over 10 weeks, refer yourself as soon as you can.

If you’re a survivor of domestic abuse and use a hidden or emergency phone, please be aware that a loud siren will sound on ALL phones, even on silent.
