I started teaching the APPI (Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute) method in 2011 and became a fully certified instructor soon after. Personally, I have found APPI Pilates very helpful in improving my own physical fitness and it has literally helped me go from strength to strength ever since. Being an HCPC registered physiotherapist (PH54011) has undoubtedly enabled me to deliver a service that meets individual needs within a group setting.
The variety and challenge this form of exercise offers never fails to keep me engaged. Also, as I focus on improving my technique, particularly the relaxed breathing, I find it helps me to relax and unwind. Each class I teach is different, planned specifically for that group of clients and carefully considered to achieve the ideal balance between challenge and ease of movement.
In my opinion, Pilates is an excellent addition to any individual’s exercise routine and helps to improve performance in other activities, whether functional tasks or other varieties of exercise, for example running.
