Are you interested in wellbeing and getting involved in your local community?

This Positive Ageing Month, Connect North is here to help you achieve these goals ☺️

As we age, life transitions such as retirement, bereavement or changes in health can affect how connected we feel.

You’ll find the team in libraries throughout the area during October, hosting drop-in sessions designed to help people make valuable social connections that we all need 🫶

On Thursday (October 9) they’ll be in Kells and Connor library from 10.30am -12.30pm, with visits to Greystone, Glengormley, Kilrea, Portglenone and Cookstown coming next week 📚

Visit our website for further information and full details of all drop-in events https://orlo.uk/connect_north_MaqOg

Our Emergency Departments at both Antrim Area Hospital and Causeway Hospital are under extreme pressure today, with long waits for those whose condition is not life-threatening.

Staff are working hard to triage patients and prioritise those needing urgent care.

Please use our Phone First clinical triage service if you are considering attending ED with an urgent injury or illness which is not immediately life-threatening.

Phone First is available Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm, by ringing 0300 123 1 123.

By using Phone First, your condition, or that of the person you are calling on behalf of, will be clinically assessed and you will be directed to the most appropriate care pathway for your needs.

For more information about different healthcare options, and to help you choose the right service based on your needs, please visit https://orlo.uk/w3wxj

In an emergency, always call 999 🚨

Thank you for your continued support.

Well done to our brilliant renal nurses Hazelle Ongcoy and Caillee McHugh who gave up their time to volunteer at Kidney Care UK's Young Adult Weekend.

The experience is organised every year for young people aged 18-30 who are living with a long-term kidney condition ❤️

With support from a team of volunteers like Hazelle and Caillee it offers a fun and safe environment filled with activities, workshops and social events ☺️

Hazelle and Caillee’s involvement is a first for the Northern Trust, and they were the only renal nurses from Northern Ireland in attendance this year 🙌

What did you have for breakfast this morning?

As part of our nutrition myth busting series, today we’re taking a closer look at cereal with Team North Dietitian Jill Stewart 🥣

Despite claims that it is ultra-processed, high in sugar and causes blood sugar spikes, there are healthy options out there and it can provide a nutritious start to your day ❤️

Keep an eye on our channels for more in this series or in the meantime check out the wealth of information available on the Public Health Dietitians’ YouTube channel - https://orlo.uk/public_health_dietitians_GIMrE

We chatted to the students about the importance of good general health and wellbeing and highlighted the associated dangers and impact of smoking and va**ng.

Thank you to those students who stopped by 🙂 Very best wishes for the year ahead 🙌
