Our Emergency Departments at both Antrim Area Hospital and Causeway Hospital are under extreme pressure today, with long waits for those whose condition is not life-threatening.

Staff are working hard to triage patients and prioritise those needing urgent care.

Please use our Phone First clinical triage service if you are considering attending ED with an urgent injury or illness which is not immediately life-threatening.

Phone First is available Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm, by ringing 0300 123 1 123. By using Phone First, your condition, or that of the person you are calling on behalf of, will be clinically assessed and you will be directed to the most appropriate care pathway for your needs.

“Day Opportunities has made a massive impact on Jonathan’s life and ours as a family.”

This month’s story is an inspiring look at the bond between two brothers 💙

Stephen Fillis tells us about growing up with his younger brother Jonathan, their shared love of football, and how Jonathan’s life has changed since joining Day Opportunities 15 years ago ⚽

As an avid fan of Coleraine FC, he’s even landed his ‘dream job’ with the club!

Read their story on our website https://orlo.uk/jonathan_fillis_EuPb4

Could you provide a short-term foster home for eight-year old Eddy*?

Eddy* is a lovely boy with blue eyes and red hair. He enjoys rough and tumble play like bouncing on your knee or getting tickled, and trips to the local park. He loves In the Night Garden (Iggle Piggle in particular), Toy Story and his favourite song is Baby Shark. He enjoys coming home from school and watching YouTube on the TV ☺️

Eddy has a diagnosis of severe learning disability, autism and is currently awaiting an assessment for ADHD. Eddy uses a communication book brilliantly when prompted and will lead his carer to what he wants. He attends a special school in the wider Antrim area and it would be best for him if he could remain there, if possible 🏫

We would love to hear from you if you think you could provide a home for Eddy.

*Please note. we have changed the child’s name and used a stock image to protect his identity.

We recently came together with VOYPIC to host a special celebration marking National Care Leavers Month 🫶

The event brought together key partner organisations and care leavers from across the Trust area, providing a valuable opportunity for connection, relationship building and raising awareness of the support available to young people leaving care.

Take a moment to hear of the inspiring stories of how our staff and care leavers continue to uplift and support one another 💙
