As usual I didn’t take many photos of this weekends Bow Making course. We had 5 students learning the ancient craft of bow making using hand tools only. axe, drawknife, rasp and knives. David managed to lure a couple of students to the dark side. Using box planes.

4 Bhutanese Bows completed. Actually 4.5 as one broke just after lunchtime. No fault of the bowyer just a flaw in the material. It happens when you’re tillering bow. Fortunately i able to attack another bit of bamboo with my favourite old french axe and catch the student up so he could finish with a shooter. Bhutanesebow. .

1 day leather working course. Something a bit different from a basic knife sheath. This one had David scratching his chin. A carry case for a field recorder.

Happy Easter to all our customers and supporters.

This weekend we will be hosting 10 bowyers. That’s right 10. Two groups booking of 5 The first group arriving tomorrow for the full 3 day Ash Bow Course. Monday we have another 5 making Bhutanese Bows. It’s going to be a very busy weekend.

No time for chocolate.
