๐Ÿ’œ The purple cauliflower contains additional anthocyanins, the pigment which makes it such a vibrant colour and is shared with other purple veg like blueberries, red onions and aubergines. This gives it an extra antioxidant hit to support our hearts, brains and digestive health.

๐Ÿ’œ There are so many ways to enjoy cauliflower...roasted whole, pulsed into rice or pureed into an alternative to mashed potato...and you can eat all of it, leaves and all.

It was such an honour to be part of โ€˜s incredible evening last night learning about the vagus nerve and how we can support it.

What we eat has such an important effect on our nervous system and I really enjoyed bringing together nutrient rich food to support our gut health, balance our blood sugar and support our neurotransmitters.

The high levels of nitric oxide, for example, in the beetroot humous can help improve our circulation while the betaine which balances serotonin, dopamine and cortisol levels so can reduce feelings of anxiety.

Thank you for this delicious bowl of kiwi fruit. Now the million dollar question...do you eat the skin or not?

I have recently learnt that the skin of a kiwi fruit is rich in antioxidants and fibre and more people than I expected simply eat a kiwi like an apple - biting into it skin and all. So I had to try it and actually it is not too bad, although I do prefer to scrub it to get rid of the hairiest bits!

How do you eat your kiwi? And have you tried it with the skin? let me know...

Following on from our De-stress event and as the new school term starts with all the potential stress that entails here are some foods and nutrients we can focus on to help balance our stress levels.

๐Ÿ  Omega-3 rich foods are anti-inflammatory, reduce stress symptoms and support the endocannabinoid system which regulates mood and our stress response

๐Ÿต L-theanine in green tea enhances the โ€˜calmingโ€™ GABA neurotransmitter, the โ€˜feel-goodโ€™ dopamine and โ€˜happyโ€™ serotonin hormones

๐Ÿฅฆ Broccoli and red peppers contain more vitamin C than oranges, although citrus fruits and berries are still excellent sources

๐ŸŠVitamin C supports the adrenal system, HPA axis and reduces stress-induced cortisol response
