✨ Navigating December: Finding Calm in the Chaos ✨

December can feel like both sparkle and overwhelm.
If you’re moving through this season with mixed emotions, you’re not alone — truly.

In my work as a counsellor, I see how powerful it is to slow down, honour your limits, and meet this month with compassion instead of pressure.
Small grounding moments matter. ❄️
Your pace matters. 🕯️
Your feelings are valid — all of them. 💛

✨ What does self-care really look like?

It doesn’t have to be perfect, polished, or expensive. Sometimes it’s as simple as stepping outside, noticing the colours of the season, and letting yourself be in the moment.

For me, it’s foraging — slowing down enough to taste the sweetness of a blackberry and feel grounded again. 🍇🌿

Research shows that just 15 minutes in nature can lift our mood, ease anxiety, and help us reset. So today, give yourself permission to pause. Step outside. Breathe. Notice. That, too, is self-care. 💜

Mental Health Awareness Week: The Power of Community
Monday 12 May – Sunday 18 May 2025

Every May, the UK marks Mental Health Awareness Week, a time to reflect, connect, and shine a light on the challenges that affect us all. This year’s theme, Community, reminds us that we are not alone and that the strength of our connections with others, can be a true lifeline.

In a world that can feel increasingly divided, community grounds us. Whether it’s a friend checking in, a neighbour’s smile, or the support of an online group, these moments shape how we cope and heal.

Loneliness and isolation are among the greatest threats to mental well-being. They can chip away at our confidence and sense of self and ironically create social anxiety, isolating us further. Sometimes we can start with small acts, a passing conversation, shared activity, or simple invitation can begin to restore that vital feeling of belonging.

Why not volunteer or join a club and become a part of your local community.

I'll be honest — I'm much more of a scroller than a poster, when it comes to social media. However I recognise that I may be in the minority and that many people connect through social media, so I'm joining in my professional capacity as a counsellor.

I won’t be constantly updating, but I will occasionally share thoughts, resources, and a bit about my approach — in case it's helpful to you or someone you care about.
