The Bionic Challenge

The Bionic Challenge In September the team will once again be hitting the road, this time cycling over 650km from the famous Arnhem bridge in Holland back to Cookham bridge.

Ten old Actonians will ride over three hundred miles from Belgium to London. The aim is to raise money for the local Army Cadet Unit which we all spent many happy years as teenagers. The Bionic Challenge was named after Richard Chunn, who over the years has had over twenty operations and now has a metal knee, metal in his back and also metal holding his neck together. He wanted to do something to help his old unit, so after a conversation with his surgeon it was recommended that he doesn't run or swim but should try cycling. So after speaking with a few ex cadets it was decided that if Richard could cycle back from Belgium with his smashed up body then the others could do it too.
