Louisa Woodford Counselling

Louisa Woodford Counselling A warm, non-judgemental space in which to feel understood and safe to explore your needs.

Feeling anxious, unsettled or sad can feel like a lonely place to be in our lives. I work with anxiety and depression and have further experience in working with addiction and abuse. Whether it's a challenging life event, relationship, job or a sense of ongoing unhappiness that feels hard to pin-point, I offer a calm and friendly space in which we can talk through your issues at your pace to explore what you might need. Rather than advise, I gently support you to find the way forward that feels right for you. As an integrative therapist I’m really interested in using my intuition to listen to what you need and employing different counselling approaches to work in a way that best suits you. I enjoy working collaboratively with you to find out what feels right for you and to gently build trust in each other. I support you, the whole person, taking into account all parts of you and your experience to help you to feel truly seen and heard.

Following on from our workshop today on Men’s Mental Health with John Goss, I thought this summed it up.

Have you ever heard of attachment styles? Our attachment style is formed in early childhood based on the bond we form with our main caregiver & influences how we form all our relationships. Which style do you recognise in yourself?

This reminds me of the phrase, ‘Trust the process’ which, as much as it encourages us to engage in a process, also asks us to sit with the ambiguous moments in life, in the knowledge that ‘things will re-emerge’ 🌱🌸

Shame can be powerful. Uncovering the parts of us that are hidden by shame can be incredibly powerful too 🌱

Hello, my name’s Louisa 👋

🌱 I became a counsellor because I have a fascination with human behaviour.
Counselling training fuelled my passion for learning about the way we as humans relate to ourselves and one another, based upon our experiences as children and adults.
I feel privileged to be able to sit with clients and explore their challenges with a view to making healthy changes.
I enjoy reading a variety of books, watching films and going running, which I feel helps support my wellbeing.

🌱 What does my experience involve?
I work across Buckinghamshire supporting adults experiencing addiction issues with a focus on substance misuse. Throughout this work I have found that clients are often exploring other issues in tandem with addiction, including anxiety, depression, abuse and trauma.
I have also spent some time working with young people in a secondary school exploring issues including anxiety, panic, depression, domestic abuse and bereavement.

🌱 What kind of therapy can I offer?
I work with clients in-person from rooms in Aylesbury and Tring, and online via Zoom.
I am a fully qualified and insured integrative therapist with a person-centred approach at the heart of my work meaning that I put you and your needs at the centre of the work we do together.
Working integratively means that I draw on aspects of person-centred theory, psychodynamic theory, transactional analysis (TA) and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) tailored to support your individual needs and interests.

I know this is a long quote and oh my isn’t it unbelievably profound? I could read that first sentence over and over and see something new everytime. And then the next lines…soul nourishing heart expanding mind food.
