“How do you care for yourself?” 🛋️🍲🏊♀️
By the second day of an intense week in the Creative Arts Supervision course, Mim could already feel the tiredness settle in. There was still so much to take in and already, her body and mind were asking for something else: care.
So, she paused. Not dramatically, but just long enough to ask herself a quiet, grounding question: What do I need to feel supported today?
She responded with presence.
She went out and bought herself some food she genuinely enjoys. Something that brings her comfort, something that feels like her.
She made plans for a swim, sensing how much her body was craving movement after long stretches of sitting.
And then thought to buy "the Cushion".
A big, squishy, gloriously soft cushion that practically whispered, “Rest here.”
It didn’t have a price tag. And when it reached the till, the number surprised her — higher than expected.
She hesitated.
“It’s more than I’d like to spend,” she thought.
But she gave it another gentle squash and imagined the next four days of learning ahead.
Long sessions. Deep processing. A lot of sitting.
And just like that, the cushion made sense. It wasn’t just a purchase. Rather, it was a decision to meet her own needs with care. To create comfort in the midst of a demanding week. To sit well, so she could show up better.
That cushion became part of how she got through the week more comfortably, more focused, and more in tune with herself.
Because taking care of ourselves isn’t selfish. It’s necessary.
Especially when we’re learning. Especially when we’re giving.
Especially when we forget, and need reminding.
So today, whatever you’re doing and while you’re at it:
👉 How do you care for yourself?
👉 What do you need today to feel just a little more supported, present, and at ease?
It doesn’t have to be big.
But it does have to be kind.
