⭐️Mental health awareness week⭐️
Well we all have mental health, sometimes it’s positive and sometimes not.
When we are feeling happy we find it easier to do the things we enjoy. I love my yoga routines, spending time with family and friends, music, singing, dancing and watching tv.
When I am not feeling great it’s much harder to do these things! Seeing friends can become a challenge. Getting to the mat can feel like climbing a mountain.
This is often when we need it the most. I am very lucky to have a great group of yogis around me to encourage me to show up onto the mat when I need it most and funnily enough, when my practice has finished I usually notice a major improvement in my mental health too.
Yoga is about far more than flexibility of the body.
It is about strengthening the mind.
It is about giving yourself a break, being kind to yourself (I think most of us need reminding to do this)
Sometimes we make mistakes, learn from them, forgive yourself and move on!
Yoga is a way of thinking and living that can help you overcome life’s challenges.
So arrive on a mat and breathe, move, find an online freebie, book on a class and join others. It’s the first step to helping yourself feel better!
Of course yoga is not the only way to improve your mental health.
As well as being a yoga teacher I am also a trained Mental Health Lead in a Norfolk school. I aim to support students and staff with their positive wellbeing through lots of different methods. This includes yoga, breathwork, mindfulness, talking and just generally guiding people to find something they love.
