Ambulance NHS Trust

When a person/patient faces a medical or life threatening emergency, every second counts, a Community First Responder can make a vital difference

First Responders in the Aylsham area are trained volunteers who give up their spare time to be dispatched by Ambulance Control to certain 999 calls and provide on-scene emergency care to people in their own community

When a emergency 999 call is made, First Responders are alerted by ambulance control and are sent to certain types of calls at the same time as an ambulance so they can provide essential care until the Ambulance crew reaches the scene

The volunteers are trained by the East of England Ambulance Service and are able to administer first aid skills, oxygen therapy, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of a defibrillator (AED)

Responders provided CPR training today for the Parish Councillors of Ingworth, Banningham and Colby.
Shown here is the public AED at the Banningham Crown and the Councillors hope to site another in the Parish later this year.
Despite our First Responder leaving to attend an emergency near the end of the session, the training still continued in their absence, well done to you all.
Thanks to all who attended and Colin Studholme who organised the event as Clerk of the three Councils.

It’s been a very busy two weeks with responders attending many calls in our area. It has been a particularly busy period for the ambulance service and hospitals.
Congratulations to Simon McKinna and Jonathon gardiner who passed their annual adult and paediatric assessments tonight as part of their degree.

We would like to thank the people of Aylsham who came to the rescue of a lady who had a nasty fall this afternoon in the town centre.
In particular some passes by, staff at the library and finally staff at Stamp.

It is always heart warming to see how public spirited and generous the people of Aylsham and the surrounding areas are.
The lady is on the way to hospital and we wish her a speedy recovery.

As you have probably heard in the media, we are extremely busy and as volunteers this is doubly so for us.
We have been primarily used for category one calls which are life-threatening. We will get to you as quickly as we can.
Thank you for your understanding and support from the team.
