Exciting times in Type 1 diabetes research 🤞

A century after insulin transformed type 1 diabetes from a fatal condition into a treatable one, scientists may be approaching another major advancement. In early trials, an experimental stem cell therapy has helped some patients regain their natural ability to produce insulin, although it requires immune-suppressing drugs that come with trade-offs.
