Under 2 months to go!

On the 6th June 2026, Katie and Ben will embark on the 5k mud run in support of Cancer Research UK - something that is close to home no doubt to us all.

Our run will be dedicated to Darren Moule - whom Ben was very close to. He lost his life last year following a long battle with cancer. Darren employed Ben at Riverbank Golf driving range near Mansfield from the age of 14, working for him for 14 years.

Let’s raise money for vital research to create a cure for cancer.

Please donate if you can:

Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life Pretty Muddy to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor ...

We’ve been very busy this week preparing our kit and vehicle for another busy season - we even had a bumblebee visit today, that air freshener must smell nice!

This marvellous insect can deliver a barbed sting, and although wonderful in every other way - the Bee can be particularly dangerous to those who are severely allergic to their sting. - these people will usually carry around an EpiPen.

The NHS recommends the following to remove a sting:

1. Brush or scrape the stinger sideways with your fingernail or the edge of a bank card.
2. Do not use tweezers to pull out a stinger as you could squeeze poison out of it.
3. Wash the area with soap and water.

Being a family business is one of the most important things to us at Peaks Medical Response.

We invite all our customers to be a part of our PMR family;

But did you know: We have a strong local heritage connecting us to the Peak District dating back 100s of years.

Ben, the company owner is a direct ancestor of the Froggatt family, his grandmother is the last known Froggatt in his immediate family. Even more ironically, an ancestor that shared the name Ben, lived on the exact land where Ben lives up until 1971.

“The name Froggatt has Anglo-Saxon roots. It likely derives from the Old English terms related to "frog" and "cot," meaning cottage. This suggests that the name may refer to a dwelling associated with frogs, possibly due to the area's damp environment near the River Derwent.

The first recorded mention of the Froggatt family dates back to 1348, with an individual named Roger de frogcot. The name has evolved over the centuries, appearing in various forms such as Froggegate and Froggecot.

Froggatt is primarily linked to a village in Derbyshire, England. The family has historical ties to the region, with many descendants still residing in areas like Chesterfield and Eyam. The name is relatively common in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire but less so in other regions.

Several notable people have carried the Froggatt name, including:
Joanne Froggatt: A British actress known for her role in "Downton Abbey."
Raymond William "Froggy" Froggatt: An English songwriter and singer.
The Froggatt name reflects a rich history tied to its geographical origins and the families that have lived in the area.”

Amazing welcome last night from one of our local young farmers groups who’d invited us to join their meeting to explain a little about the importance of CPR - especially important in the rural community where an ambulance response may be delayed significantly due to ambulance availability or bad weather.

You can learn how to save a life in 15 minutes via the heart foundation here: https://revivr.bhf.org.uk/?_gl=1*1xa4dg6*_gcl_au*MTcxMzIxMDkxNi4xNzY4OTg2MDAx*_ga*MTk3MTc5MzMyOS4xNzY4OTg2MDAx*_ga_L1TRS9RE0M*czE3Njg5ODU5OTkkbzEkZzAkdDE3Njg5ODYwMDIkajU3JGwwJGgw

Good morning!

A slightly different post this morning, a throwback from 2018 when Ben, as an emergency care assistant then, was working frontline.

“This used to be one of my favourite ambulance to drive, it was interesting to see how people reacted so differently to a different sound. I remember there being a whole Internet forum that we’d found as a station on where the air raid sirens noise was coming from, and even some conspiracy theories surrounding why it was sounding”.
