The Club were delighted to welcome Courtney McKeown, owner of McKeown Sports Massage to Anderson's Park on Saturday afternoon to unveil her new pitchside advertising board.

Courtney is a Level 4 Sports Massage therapist but also has expertise and certifications in other therapies. Also registered with the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) she is very experienced and knowledgeable in delivering such unique services.

Originally from Canada Courtney has had a long career in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry. Upon moving to Northern Ireland in 2019 Courtney has continued her career in healthcare and has become skilled in Sports Massage.

Being on hand to help with any injury assessment you require, helping with recovery, and maintenance of your body for all fitness levels, even for those who are not athletes. Our bodies can feel run down and sore for all types of reasons and with Courtney's experience and expertise McKeown Sports Massage is only a call away.

Last week I had the honour and pleasure of taking part in a wellness day for one of the departments within the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. I went onsite to offer sports massages to highly deserving members as part of their mental health initiative. It was a full day of working with some pretty amazing people and I’m looking forward to participating in more wellness days with this wonderful organisation!

Can anyone help?

It has been a difficult day - We have just had a female dog and her 10 pups handed into us today, these pups are just days old and urgently needed care and attention. While we are grateful the owner voluntarily surrendered them, unfortuantely we do not have the facilties or resources to support this amount of pups or a mother needing medical treatment as we are already inundated with pups in the process of rehoming. We ensured they were seen by our local vet and had them all checked over and the mother given medication. We also approached a number of our colleagues in charities, who unfortunately were unable to help and support as they are already working to capacity with a waiting list of surrenders and in the same position as us. As a last resort, knowing we had no choice, we contacted council's dog warden to take the mother and her 10 pups. We are distraught at this but had no other option. These pups - if all goes well, should be ready for adopton in a couple of months. They are staffi cross pups and we hope they will all survive. We have provided medicine and specialised dog food and will ask for updates on their progress, but Northern Ireland is saturated with pups for sale and appreciate the future is not bright. We hope that the Minister's installation of Lucy's Law, the review of breeding, breeders and the oversight needed in Northern Ireland, will start to reduce this occurring but it will not be anytime soon. Please think twice before breeding your dog, and be a responsible dog owner by ensuring your dog is neutered, microchipped and licenced with your local council.
