Imagine having a hospital appointment.
You know it is going to be super busy on the roads and its a nightmare to get parked. So you follow the advice given and have allowed at least 1 hour to get parked but your journey is also 1 hour. The clinic your attending is then running late. When you are called for your appointment, its a lengthy process and takes time. Finally its time for home and you know its going to be at least an hour to get home so you want to use the toilet before leaving as you need to go! You search for a toilet but everytime you go into a room labelled 'toilet' , nothing is in there that you can sit on or use. Your search gets to be desperate because you really need a toilet but you cannot find anywhere to get relief. You end up being wet (or worse!). So now you have to face the journey home. How would you feel?

You then make a complaint to be told.....you should have rang ahead to make toileting arrangements!!!

PLEASE GET BEHIND KAYLAS CAMPAIGN FOR A CHANGING PLACES FACILITY IN ALL HOSPITALS AND HEALTHCARE SETTINGS IN NORTHERN IRELAND.

We should not have to beg and campaign for this in 2026. Using a bathroom safely, and with dignity is such a basic thing to provide in a public service that is suppoed to care for everyone!!
It speaks volumes about how the disabled community is seen and cared for and regarded if this level of direspect continues.

Our government and healthcare system need to do better!!

It’s been a mad summer for all of us here at Parents United for Children’s Health 🌞

We know the page has been quieter than usual, but that’s not because we’ve been sitting still. Behind the scenes, we’ve been speaking with numerous families who’ve reached out with concerns, offering guidance where we can and connecting them with the right people and services for better support.

As full-time carers ourselves, the school holidays have meant we’ve been busier than ever, juggling care and family life — which is why our online presence has dipped. But rest assured, the work hasn’t stopped.

Over the next few weeks, as summer winds down and the kids head back to school, we’ll be sharing more here — including updates on what we’ve been working on and how we’re continuing to fight for children’s health together.

If you’re a family who feels we might be able to offer advice or support, please don’t hesitate to send us a private message. We will get back to you. 💙

Contact Awards 2025 - The Sibling award 👩‍👩‍👦

The brothers and sisters of disabled and additional needs children often carry a quiet strength. They’re the playmates, protectors, helpers, and biggest cheerleaders, often without ever being asked. Their patience, empathy, and love shine through in so many everyday moments.

This award is all about recognising the amazing things siblings do, whether it’s helping with daily routines, or simply bringing joy and laughter when it’s needed most.

If your child or young person has brothers or sisters who deserve a big round of applause, now’s your chance to give it to them by nominating them for our Sibling award.
