I'm a very proud mummy to three fabulous little boys: Twins Leo & Ben, and baby Harry. One of our twins, Ben, is our extra special boy, he's that bit different to the other two, and thats what makes him unique. Ben has a tracheostomy (a tube in his airway to help him breathe), is on a ventilator (a portable life support machine at home) and has a P.E.G (Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy - a tube that he is fed 'special' milk directly into his stomach). The thing is, Ben was in intensive care for 17 months, and during that time his twin only saw him 3 times, due to the risk of infection, so we were worried about them playing together with all the equipment, as Ben has some interesting extras, lets face it! So, our Ben's MediBear™ was born! He was placed on the operating table, (kitchen table) late one night (emergency surgery), and woke up (its ok, i'm a nurse, I kinda had an idea I knew what i was at) with a trache & a button PEG! Leo was delighted- then so were our friends and family, who really hadn't taken much in about Ben's 'devices'! The twins bear has been adopted on to Harry, who was a bit too fond of Ben's added extras at the minute (Ben is not impressed!), and has also made it into Leo's mainstream school so he can tell his class about his twin! After a casual 'chat' with some wonderful Northern Ireland mummys, Ben's Medibear™ & MediBear™ were born! Our aim, is to "operate" on our bears, to be as unique as each child or adult that needs them. The cost for a bear varies, depending on the devices required, but generally, each bear will be £30 (plus p&p), and €40, plus postage to Republic of Ireland & Europe. USA delivery quote upon request.
