Some photos from tonight’s Bangor Weekly Walk

For once… a dry one 🙌🏼 It feels like we’ve had months of rain on these walks, so it made a change to get out in decent conditions.

Massive respect to the lads who keep turning up week in, week out regardless of the weather. That consistency matters more than anything & putting your mental and physical health first, even when it’s tough.

That’s what it’s all about 💚

Well done lads 👏🏻

The mornings are getting lighter, spring is around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to get back outside.

Last year our Walk, Water & Fire event in Beddgelert quickly became one of the favourite MenTribe moments, a simple formula that just works. A good walk, a cold dip to wake the body up, a fire in the woods, bacon baps, and proper conversation.

No pressure, no expectations. Just fresh air, movement, and good company.

If winter felt heavy, this is a good way to start stepping into the lighter months the right way.

Come and join us.

Nine ascents of Yr Wyddfa in 48 hours.
That’s the equivalent height of climbing Mount Everest.

This April a small MenTribe team will attempt the Yr Wyddfa 9 challenge to raise funds so we can continue providing free, effective mental health support for men across North Wales.

Every donation helps us keep showing up for the men who need it.

💚 Donate via the link or QR code in this post.

If you’re a local business and would like to support the challenge through sponsorship, feel free to reach out.

Yr Wyddfa x9 X Everest Challenge… But why?

Because mental health isn’t a straight line.

It’s up.
It’s down.
It’s progress.
It’s setbacks.

Some days feel like a summit.
Clear head. Strong body. Good energy.

Some days feel like you’re at the bottom…
looking up at a mountain that feels impossible to climb.

Yr Wyddfa 9 represents that constant climb.

Nine ascents.
Nine descents.
48 hours.

Because the battle with mental health is rarely one big dramatic moment.
It’s repeated effort.
It’s getting back up.
It’s choosing to climb again… even after you’ve just come down.

Each leg of this challenge will highlight a different struggle -
anxiety, depression, PTSD, addiction, isolation and more.

Not to glorify suffering.
But to bring it into the open.
To start conversations.
To show that the ups and downs are normal.

And to remind people that even when you’re at the bottom…

You don’t have to climb alone.

Take the first step… we will take the rest with you.

Get yourselves down to Bangor City Stadium today to support Mel’s Medicine 2.

If you’re curious about cold water therapy, this is the perfect opportunity to dip your toe in and see what it’s all about.

More importantly, this event is about raising funds and showing support for Mel, a local Bangor woman who contracted Lyme disease from a tick bite. As an avid outdoor instructor, this hits close to home for us at MenTribe.

When you arrive, speak to Mash, our resident cold water lead at MenTribe. He’ll talk you through it properly and make sure you feel safe and supported before you get in.

Come down, show your support and discover another powerful way to look after your physical and mental health.

If you can’t make it down today, you can still contribute by donating.

I almost didn’t post this.

But if we expect men to be honest, we have to model it too.

I haven’t been 100% lately. Just tired. Overextended. Running at full pace for too long.

What matters is noticing it.

That’s what we build at MenTribe - awareness before crisis.

It’s okay to not feel okay sometimes. Just don’t ignore it.

You don’t have to carry it alone.

Great to see the lads getting out and about, and a massive thank you to Gav & Darryl for hosting these spaces and creating opportunities for men to connect and get active.

If you’d like to get involved, please DM the page. Just a heads-up that this page isn’t monitored 24/7, and the admins will be offline this weekend for some much-needed respite.

Yr Wyddfa 9 × Everest Challenge

What it is and how to support:

A 48-hour endurance challenge where a core team of 12 men will complete nine ascents and descents of Yr Wyddfa via the Llanberis Path, continuously, 18–20 April.

Across the 48 hours, the team will climb the equivalent height of Mount Everest, up and down, entirely under their own steam.

This isn’t a race.
There are no personal bests, no competition, and no individual finish lines.

The challenge is the repetition, the lack of sleep, the discomfort, and how people show up for one another when things get hard.

Yr Wyddfa 9 × Everest brings together men from different backgrounds to face shared challenge as a team, without labels, hierarchy, or anyone being singled out.

We’re doing this because the reality for many men is stark.
In the UK, around three-quarters of all suicides are men.
Too many are struggling quietly, disconnected from purpose, community, and support.

MenTribe exists to change that through outdoor activity, shared challenge, and peer support that feels real, accessible, and non-clinical.
