Litchdon Medical Centre We're a GP Practice working hard to deliver primary care services to over 16,700 patients We have a practice patient population of just over 16,000.

There has been a Litchdon Medical Practice in Barnstaple since at least the 1860s. For decades the practice was located in Litchdon Street just off Barnstaple town square and directly opposite the old North Devon Infirmary. The practice has relocated twice since then and now occupies purpose built premises on Landkey Road. We serve a population within a roughly 10 mile radius from Barnstaple and provide medical services on behalf of NHS Devon Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). We offer a full range of medical care plus many other extra services that demonstrate our ethos of innovation for patient benefit. We are a training practice, one of our core values being the education and development of the next generation of clinicians. We see this as being extremely important and as such we run an active teaching programme for undergraduate medical students, post-graduate doctors pursuing higher training to become specialists in general practice, nurses and other allied health professionals. We are very grateful to our patients for their active participation in this education. We are a dispensing practice, which means that we are authorised by the CCG to dispense medicines to our rural patients. Litchdon also provides the North Devon dermatology service working closely with the Northern Devon Healthcare Trust. Inhaler therapy for asthmatic children over 6yrs 🧒

Following the success of Maintenance and Reliever Therapy (MART) inhalers for children aged 12 and over, this treatment has now been approved for children from 6 years old.

This means ONE inhaler for both preventing and relieving asthma symptoms! 😮‍💨 To find out if this therapy is suitable for your child, please book an appointment with one of our respiratory nurses.

💉👩‍⚕️Flu and covid vaccinations
We are still offering flu and covid vaccinations and have a clinic on Saturday 8th Nov. If you are eligible and have not yet been contacted by us or not yet booked an appt please ring the practice to book in.

Eligibility for covid vaccination this winter has changed to 75 years old and over or younger only if you are immunosuppressed.
Flu vaccination eligibility is unchanged.

🔷🔷Urgent Care Team Practitioner, Nurse/Paramedic vacancy - 26 hours per week.
We are looking for a dynamic and compassionate qualified Nurse/Paramedic to join our busy GP surgery in Barnstaple. We would ideally like ANP/Prescribing Nurse (although not essential as training opportunities will be available). We are looking for someone that is interested in working in our Urgent Care Team managing patients that have acute symptoms and need to have advice and contact on the day.
This is a permanent role, initially covering a colleagues maternity leave for 12 months but will then be an extra member of the team to further build the Urgent Care Team service for the Practice.
Hours for this role will be 26 hours per week over 3 days (Tues 8.15am - 6pm, Thurs 8.15am - 6pm and Fri 8.30am - 6pm).
This working pattern of the 26 hours per week will alter after the 12 months maternity leave has finished and will be based on the needs of the Practice and Urgent Care Team at that time.
Pay £21.00 - £24.60 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
Closing date 17/11/25 with interviews planned for the 26/11/25.

This will help us continue to provide support via Darren to our patients with dementia and their families. 🙂👏👏💐
