What an incredible day yesterday at our Hwb for Heroes Veterans Wellbeing Day.
🧡🔥🇬🇧🧊💙
To welcome 39 veterans through the doors and see so many people using the services was honestly amazing. That was so good to see, and it means a lot to us. Seeing that many veterans come in, switch off, reset and take time for themselves is exactly why we put this day on.
Firstly, I just want to say a huge thank you to Kim Simons from Forces Employment Charity, Jackie Collins from Department for Work and Pensions - DWP, and Julie Spence, who came in representing herself as a mental health nurse, offering her support voluntarily and free of charge. Julie has also kindly agreed to come back every month, which is brilliant and greatly appreciated.
A big thank you as well to Chad Clemo and Jo Jo Haines from Recovery Cymru, and to Kim Hudson, Helen George and Jac Thomas from the Health Hwb for all of your hard work, care and support throughout the day. You all played a massive part in making the day what it was.
And last but definitely not least, thank you to all of the veterans who walked through the doors. It was great to see you all, catch up, and watch you switch off, relax and reset.
Even if it was only for a couple of hours, that means the world to us. We’re proud that the Hwb can be a place where veterans feel safe, welcomed and able to just be themselves.
This day is here for a reason, and it is available to all veterans who are free and able to come along on the day. There is no pressure and no expectations, just a safe space, like-minded people, a brew, a chat, and the chance to take some time out.
Our next Veterans Wellbeing Day will be on 28th April, and any veteran who is free is more than welcome to come along and join us.
Today it’s back to business as normal at the Health Hwb, welcoming our amazing community in to use our services and take time for rest, recovery and reset.
Wellness belongs to everyone.
We’re making sure of it.
Let’s go.
