Storm Eowyn has got my train being all silly so I'm working from home today and embracing a few hours of leisure. Finally finishing a very good book - The Status Game by Will Storr. It pretty much sums up why we do what we do and how silly we are. Happy Friday! ๐ŸŒช๐ŸŒซ

My thesis is well under way, and I'm enjoying every minute of it. I won't lie though, it's been hard being away from academia during what was a difficult Christmas period, but returning to writing and reading has been cathartic and healing in so many ways.

I'm returning to my singing lessons next week, and Severence is back on Apple TV, which officially marks a reintroduction to normality.

Hey hey! Happy New Year.

2024 ended with some unexpected challenges. While the holiday season is often a time of joy (and rightly so), itโ€™s also important to acknowledge those navigating struggles or supporting others through them.

The holidays can feel isolating, even during the best of timesโ€”let alone when crisis strikes. To the doctors, nurses, carers, and countless others who dedicate this sacred season to helping others: your work is nothing short of inspiring. Iโ€™m deeply moved by your devotion and will strive to bring that same energy to my own practice, with a renewed commitment to supporting those in need.

For anyone who faced a difficult time this past month, please know youโ€™re not alone. I hope we can all carry these experiences forward to create a cycle of support and care.

Here's to 2025 ๐Ÿค

Onwards we go.

Thanks for all the Birthday love yesterday, everyone! Feeling grateful and silly and all the in between. Life is weird and getting older rules. People will be pleased to know I have doubled down in how heavy and boring I can be, I have not reduced the amount I talk about death and I feel no less clear on what this is all about. I know nothing about life or how to be. I'm as confused about things now as I was four years ago, and I still have loads of enemies and am impartial to complete daydreaming and delusional fantasy. You should definitely hire me though because, in spite of all of that I've had an absolute wild ride. I built a brilliant life and said yes to everything. I endured very, very dark times and decided I wanted to retrain and do a PhD. I read a LOT of books and some completely bonkers people have agreed to stay by my side, and they haven't abandoned me just yet. I'm indecisive, stubborn, and have a bad temper. I'm also very loving, trustworthy, tenacious, and hilariously funny.

Thanks for tolerating me. I can't promise it will get any better! ๐Ÿฆง

Gradually getting through my books. I'm taking a bit of a break at the moment to read for my thesis, but I have been sneaking in a bit of leisurely bedtime reading when I can so not to lose my sanity. The bookshelf is gradually filling up, if not with books, then yes, models of space equipment, tanks, pottery, stuff from my travels, and finds from the p**n convention. I'm quite strange, I know ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ›‹

I had to pause private practice requests due to a heavy research workload, along with a fair bit of travel to see out some field work.

I'm glad to be back in the clinical space, and my private practice doors are open once again. I'm available to see clients and couples both online and in person. People from the waitlist will be contacted first.

I have a break over Christmas but otherwise working throughout the holiday season.

If you're looking for support, please get in touch or DM if you have any questions!

Happy Tuesday, everyone! I'm nose deep in some literature review today after a busy morning of clients. The literature is always my favourite part. I love coming across like-minded academics striving to put good stuff out there and the fascinating topics they pursue ๐Ÿ“š

A spot of pumpkin picking this weekend with a dear friend. It is gradually becoming a tradition and certainly a new, upcoming thing for the UK.

When I lived in Canada, apple and pumpkin picking were staple autumn activities, followed by trips to the sugarshack in early spring.

These traditions, whilst they certainly have rich historical origins, I find are excellent ways, much like Christmas, to break up the winter months and bring silliness and joy to our lives through the gloomy weather.

What ways do you bring silliness and joy to your winter?
