Yoga with Elizabeth

Yoga with Elizabeth Gentle & inclusive BWY yoga teacher. Online private & group classes in UK time and in person private sessions within Bath City.

Elizabeth grew up practising yoga with her Grandma – her first yoga teacher and inspiration. Later in life, yoga became her main tool to help recover from an illness and the practice has been an ongoing support through the challenges of life ever since. Elizabeth now works therapeutically with clients with a physical and mental health diagnosis. Having completed extensive training with the British Wheel of Yoga, Elizabeth teaches a safe alignment-based practise with a caring and humorous attitude. She encourages clients to find what works for each of them and is on a mission to make yoga accessible to all! Her teaching allows you the space to challenge the mind, shut off from the outer world and journey inwards, embodying the essence of yoga.

In order to truly heal I have to be truly vulnerable... phew here goes...
I am healing.
It's a process

That takes time. A lot of it.

It also takes effort. A huge chunk of it.

Some days I do all the things I'm supposed to and things align and I feel great.

Other days I fail and I slump into a pool of tears wondering if I'll ever make it back up to that point I fell from again.

Alignment takes work. Real work.

I'm not just talking about how we physically move ourselves (although that's important too)

Like sacinandana swami says here, if things aren't properly aligned that's what causes problems.

This path of life here on earth is definitely not an easy one. It's one of constant trials & growth, but what a ride of learning, expansion and unlimited opportunities to LOVE 💜. [Therein lies the work]

"Alignment: if you want a car to go forward, you have to have the wheels in the right place (aligned).

We need to align things otherwise these things which are not properly placed will cause some problem.

What can we align? Our bodies, minds and our hearts. When we can bring all of this together we will be fully connected and in turn be happy and successful." Notes from a talk by at a retreat.

I'd like you to meet someone special
When we started working together, she couldn't move her arm. Her hands were fused into tight little fists 👊 and she couldn't turn her head to the left. Years of hard graft carrying buckets in her younger years had put a strain onto her bones and many years of floristry in cold conditions left her fingers very stiff. Arthritis and lack of movement were the main causes of her situation.
She hadn't ever done any yoga in her 80+ years on this planet, but was so eager to try.
We started with very very small hand movements seated on a chair and gradually built up.
She can now not only stand unaided, but can balance on one leg. She can move her whole left side, open and close her hands and can safely drive again.
☆ This is her showing me she can lift her left arm now☆ (that was a joyous moment)
We have a stretch and a giggle every Wednesday and she tells me stories of her travels and life when she was younger. It's a two way learning situation and it makes my day and week to see and learn from her.
She is an absolute star 🌟 she kept me in high spirits throughout the lockdowns and still does now.
She is living proof that it is never too late to start anything! AND that yoga is for everyone (should they wish to try it) and should embrace each beautifully unique individual and meet them where they are.

Happy Diwali (Dīpāvalī दीपावली) the festival of lights.
What does light symbolise for you?
How can you invite in more light today?
May the light in your life, shine on you and reflect onto all others to enhance peace and abundance for the whole world to enjoy.
As we move into a new moon cycle today what do you wish to invite in?
For me Diwali is about remembering the light in our lives and inviting in more light, and with this new moon serving as a reminder to manifest or invite in more light also.

My Story

Elizabeth grew up practising yoga with her grandma; her first teacher and inspiration.

She began to dive deeper into yoga when it became her main tool for recovery over an illness in 2010. After extensive practise and exploration of the yoga world she embarked upon the British wheel of yoga foundation course. Then in 2015 undertook her higher teacher training diploma with the British wheel of yoga; the highest awarding yoga qualification in the UK.
