Eximius Live-In Support

Eximius Live-In Support Ensuring comfort and independence at home 💜 Kate Hetzel (Owner):
Since 2002 I have seen the enormous positive impact live-in support has on people’s lives.

Live-In Care because...
💜 There Is No Place Like Home 💜
Compassionate care for your loved ones, from companionship to complex needs like dementia, parkinson’s, spinal or brain injuries. Following a 16-year career in sales and marketing, I started a care franchise in 2002 and one of my first ever clients needed a live-in carer. Since then, it has always been a passion of mine. I operated the business for 13 years, employing over 100 carers, and had more than 350 clients at any one time. Our clients came from all walks of life and needed different specialised care. Whether recuperating from a spell in hospital or hindered by a long-term condition or disability, giving them the support they needed in familiar surroundings near friends and family couldn't be beaten. It's why I'm so passionate about live-in support. I was then inspired by my mother to set up Eximius and deliver an altogether superior service. She is wonderfully spirited, sophisticated and fiercely independent, despite being 80 years old with floundering memory. She's the yardstick against which I measure the service we provide and the reason I believe that everyone should be able to stay in their homes, living the happiest and most independent lives they can. My vision for Eximius is that, while we still support complicated care needs, the focus is on our clients' lives, what they love doing, their hobbies, their interests – with Eximius support companions ensuring that they receive the exceptional help to enable them to live their lives to the fullest.

Blood Pressure UK’s ‘Top five tips for a healthy blood pressure’:

1. Cut down on salt – Reducing your salt intake it the quickest way to lower your blood pressure. Don’t add it when cooking or at the table, avoid using stock cubes, gravy and soy sauce, check food labels and avoid processed foods high in salt – aim to eat less than 6g a day.
2. Eat plenty of fruit and vegetables – at least five different portions every day.
3. Watch your weight – try to reach the right weight for your height.
4. Exercise regularly – that doesn’t have to mean the gym, how about a regular lunchtime walk? 30 minutes five times a week is ideal. If you are unsure about taking up exercise, ask your GP.
5. Drink alcohol in moderation – up to 14 units a week for both men and women – a glass of wine or a pint of beer is 2-3 units.

💡 Domiciliary, Residential, or Live-in Care – Which is Right for You?

Choosing the right care for yourself or a loved one can feel overwhelming. At Eximius Live-In Care, we break down the pros and cons of the 3 main care types to help you make the best decision:

🏠 Domiciliary Care – Flexible, part-time support at home. Great for maintaining independence, but limited outside of agreed hours.

🏡 Residential Care – 24/7 support in a care home. Offers community & activities but may feel restrictive and expensive.

👫 Live-in Care – Full-time personalised care in the comfort of home. Promotes independence and continuity, ideal for couples, but requires space and adjustment.

As Winter quickly draws in, No one should go cold this winter ❄️

Last winter, around 9 million people aged 66+ in the UK said they felt cold “some, most, or all of the time.” Nearly 650,000 voices joined Age UK’s emergency petition, delivered to Downing Street, calling for the Winter Fuel Payment to be restored. Without it, up to 2.5 million older people could be left without vital support.

Thanks to public pressure, the government has reinstated the payment for those with incomes under £35,000 — but the fight isn’t over. Age UK is still campaigning for an energy social tariff, better access to Pension Credit, and long-term protection against fuel poverty.

Let’s keep the heat on. Share this post, spread the word, and help protect older people this winter.

As we grow older, life can sometimes feel a little quieter and lonelier 💭💔. Loved ones may have moved away, and we might not get out as often.

That’s when pets can become so much more than just animals 🐾❤️ They bring comfort, companionship, and a reason to smile every single day. From the gentle purr of a cat 🐱 to the wagging tail of a dog 🐶, pets can brighten life - no matter your age.

At Eximius Live-in Care, we’ve seen first-hand how much joy and emotional support pets bring to older adults. In our latest post, we share the wonderful benefits of pet companionship and which pets might be the perfect match for later life 🐦🐇🐕.
